The confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson began on Capitol Hill on Monday. The prior reactions in the mainstream media were what you’d expect. Namely, endless, slobbering profiles and claims that any questioning of the judge’s record would be racist and out of bounds. When the time came, Sen. Dick Durbin opened the hearing by pleading with Republicans for “civility.” Of course, Republicans owe Durbin and his party nothing of the sort. After all, it’s been less than four years since one of the most disturbing, disgusting congressional and media spectacles in US history: The Brett Kavanaugh hearings. New Orleans - The National Weather Service has confirmed a 'large and extremely dangerous' tornado formed over parts of St. Bernard Parish on Tuesday morning.
Forecasters say the tornado was confirmed around 7:32 p.m. near the Arabi and Chalmette area. Video captured from a WWL-TV viewer captured a tornado moving through the area at the same time. Entergy Louisiana reports that nearly 4,000 customers were without power in St. Bernard Parish as of 8:20 p.m. All of Arabi and some parts of Chalmette are without power.
There are early reports surfacing on social media of significant damage to homes in that area.

Alcohol-related deaths increased 25 percent from 2019 to 2020, with alcohol-related deaths among adults younger than 65 outnumbering deaths from Covid-19 in the same age group in 2020, a new study found.
Alcohol-related deaths, including from liver disease and accidents, increased to 99,017 in 2020, up from 78,927 the year prior, according to the study performed by researchers with the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, a division of the National Institutes of Health.
While 74,408 Americans ages 16 to 64 died of alcohol-related causes, 74,075 individuals under 65 died of Covid-19, the study found. The rate of increase for alcohol-related deaths in 2020 (25 percent)

Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said Tuesday that there is "clear evidence" that the Russian military is conducting war crimes in its invasion of Ukraine.
"Russia is the aggressor here and I think we have seen here at the Pentagon - we're certainly seeing clear evidence that the Russian military is conducting war crimes," Kirby told "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday.
"We think it's important for the investigative process to continue. We're going to contribute to that. But obviously, relations with Russia are not at a premium nor should they be given the unprovoked and illegal aggression that Russia has put on the people of Ukraine," he continued.

The Russian military has lost more than 10% of the combat force that President Vladimir Putin sent to invade Ukraine, a senior Pentagon official said Tuesday.
The Russian combat force has dipped slightly below 90% for the first time in a war that began less than a month ago, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe intelligence assessments. A former Google employee filed a class-action lawsuit in a San Jose, California, federal court Friday alleging systemic bias against black employees and a corporate culture preferring white males, Reuters reported.
The lawsuit, filed by April Curley, says Google places black employees in lower-level jobs, pays them less, and denies them opportunities to grow at the company, Reuters reported. Specifically, Curley states black people make up only 4.4% of employees and about 3% of leadership, according to Reuters.
