Gas price hikes fueling electric vehicle
conspiracy theories

WASHINGTON — Some social media users suggest that soaring fuel prices in the U.S. aren’t the result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, increased consumption or supply chain issues as daily life resumes after two years of stagnation brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the flurry of Facebook and Twitter posts offer, without evidence, that a nefarious scheme is underway: President Joe Biden’s administration is intentionally driving up the price of gas to get more American drivers behind the wheel of an electric car. “$6.00 a gallon gas is how you get people to buy electric cars,” claims one popular

Comments:

Where is the conspiracy? Bidenbots have been badgering people to buy electric cars almost every day.

Not a theory, hard fact. All the evil folks in the Davos crowd are offended by the middle class living well, living free, traveling in nice, comfortable larger vehicles. They want that STOPPED, and dialing up fuel costs is the best way to force us all into micro cars, electric short range peasant cars or onto their buses and public transit.

The heavy handed ness of central planners. Limit chip production and prevent entry into the market of competitors. Allow the centralization Of message with a monopoly of integrated media outlets of multinational oligarchs and empower non government organizations to purchase key legislators to allow the above.

Re #1, you are being played by Russian disinformation on these bio labs. Yes, there have always been biological reseach instititues across ALL the Soviet Union, and in the USA, and in all European countries, were and are. We spent money to improve their security to protect against terrorists having access to bio samples that might be harmful. That was NOT ANY KIND OF A SECRET, was publically reported at the time, although the Enemedia wasn't much interested, you had to look to find the few articles. But the info has always been publicly available. I know about this from first hand experience, and I got tours through two of these DTRA funded extentions to existing research institutes.

FTA: But misleading posts across social media took Buttigieg’s comments out of context, suggesting that he was responding directly to the recent jump in gas prices by telling people to buy electric vehicles. Some posts claimed Buttigieg’s answer to rising gas prices was for Americans to buy a “$50,000 electric car.” Out of context? That's an opinion Ass Press. Can you recharge the EV in the time it takes to fill up your gas tank? Are there as many EV recharging facilities near you as there are gas stations? Can you go 400 miles on a EV recharge? Can you go on a long trip and see a EV recharge station at every highway exit? Can you afford to pay $75K for an EV car? If you answered yes to all of the above, then go ahead and buy an EV, otherwise EV technology is not there yet. OK FJB when will all of the above be true? 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, 20 years? BTW. FJB EV definitely isn't ready today.

Cheapest Tesla ~ $50k. 10% down, excellent credit, 60 monthly payments. $818/mo on an auto loan calculator I just played with. Good credit goes to $885. Average credit $955. Bad credit doesn't have the space in their budget anyway. I burn maybe 40 gal/mo (30 or less is more like it)...and that's a high estimate. At $5/gal that's $4800 over 2 years...less than the down payment...plus I still have the $800+ monthly nut to crack. I'll keep the 5 grand in my pocket for gas ( 2 vehicles, wife still has a travelling sales job ) ...have no car payments...and lower property taxes with my 2012 Outback and her 2006 Sienna van ( has to have space to haul stuff, go the the beach, etc., that a Tesla doesn't ). I'm sure all the workers of America out there making $75k with 2 incomes, families and other expenses, driving paid off late model cars, with little to no cushion in their monthly budget, are going to rush right out and buy a new electric vehicle just as Pete Buttplug says they should do.

Written by someone else living on Pluto. Didn't we hear Butthead Buttagieg say we should buy electric cars? And didn't The Potted Plant say he wants to rid us of fossil fuels a few years ago? If the administration didn't want us to buy electric cars, why don't they allow drilling for our own oil? It's all about the Green New Deal! We are about to go into a recession very soon, and these imbeciles will let it happen because they want the oil and gas to stay in the ground. They have no plan on energy and we all have to suffer. Look for a mileage tax to replace lost revenue from going to electric cars, if the switch ever happens.

Want to see how unstable electric vehicles are? A ship carrying 4000 cars caught on fire and sank 220 miles out in the ocean while being towed back to shore. Porsches, Audi's, the last of the Lamborghini's Aventadors, and VW's were on board. Some of those cars were special order vehicles costing hundreds of thousands of dollars each. The Lamborghini's were probably worth much more. The cause of the fire? An electric car battery caught on fire. Might have been one of the cheapest vehicle on the ship. A new VW electric vehicle. Once those lithium batteries catch fire, there's not much one can do to put it out. It's why all 22 crew members were evacuated immediately.

Conventional wisdom is that the 2022 midterms will be a political bloodbath for the Democrats. For starters, historically speaking, the party in power typically loses seats. But on top of that, Biden’s poor approval ratings are dragging down his entire party, and more than 30 House Democrats have announced their retirements. Nevertheless, during the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting on Thursday, Biden insisted his party could defy history. How? All they’ve got to do is replicate their 2020 enthusiasm. “If we do that, we’re going to keep the House and keep the Senate — and add seats,” he claimed. Good luck with that.
