WASHINGTON — Rising gas prices pose a fresh election year challenge for President Joe Biden. He’s balancing concerns about costs at the pump in the U.S. against calls from both parties to step up penalties on Russian President Vladimir Putin following his invasion of Ukraine. (Snip) Later, while arriving on a visit to Texas, Biden was asked if he had a message for the American people about gas prices and responded, “They’re going to go up.” “Can’t do much right now,” the president added in response to questions. “Russia is responsible.” That’s a message the president may have to reinforce

Comments:

On one hand he says Russian oil was an insignificant part of our oil supply, then blames price increases going back 13 month on Russia. B.S.

High gas prices are a problem for people who struggle to pay them. This will be further crippling the US economy. How long before low wage workers cannot afford to get to their jobs?

For Biden when in poetic justice is taken around town on a rail, Abe Lincoln quoted an old joke, ''if it was not for the honor of the thing, he would much rather walk.'' (There's gold in those old Lincoln speeches.)

So, we have all the oil and natural gasoline we could ever need, or want, never needing any imported oil from any country. We have enough to supply our friends too - making money on the deals. We need to be focused on making it cleaner burning emissions, and keep pointing to technology to help in that endeavor (which is what they still need for their green scheme). And, based on the Paris Accords, which had the year 2100 as the target year for meeting the goals to save the planet, we have time. After all, far too many elites are buying Coastal beachfront properties, so the idea of something drastic happening in just 10 years, as some have claimed, seems dubious.

WASHINGTON — Some social media users suggest that soaring fuel prices in the U.S. aren’t the result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, increased consumption or supply chain issues as daily life resumes after two years of stagnation brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the flurry of Facebook and Twitter posts offer, without evidence, that a nefarious scheme is underway: President Joe Biden’s administration is intentionally driving up the price of gas to get more American drivers behind the wheel of an electric car. “$6.00 a gallon gas is how you get people to buy electric cars,” claims one popular

U.S. inflation accelerated to the fastest pace in four decades again last month, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated Thursday, with the recent surge in oil and gas prices linked to Russia's war on Ukraine likely to keep rates elevated well into the second half of the year. The headline consumer price index for the month of February was estimated to have risen 7.9% from last year, up from the 7.5% pace in January and the fastest rate since June of 1982, powered largely by energy, shelter and services costs. On a monthly basis, inflation was up 0.8%

While there are alternatives to Russian oil, they would be insufficient or difficult logistically if the U.S. and its allies were to ban Russian energy imports, analysts said Tuesday. “There’s just no way even OPEC+ and even combined Iran and Venezuela could make up for it,” Vandana Hari, founder of energy intelligence firm Vanda Insights, told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia.” Russia’s war in Ukraine shows no sign of abating as the U.S. and its allies weigh banning Russian oil and natural gas imports. President Biden’s announcement that the United States will ban imports of Russian oil caused the price of crude to surge on Tuesday morning. However, the pain that Americans are set to feel at the gas pump could eventually be offset if Congress were to pass Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, a new study finds. An analysis released Tuesday by the nonpartisan think tank Energy Innovation finds that the climate change provisions of Biden’s now-defunct proposal, such as tax credits for buying new electric vehicles, would have reduced U.S. oil consumption by 2025 by half of the roughly 200,000 barrels of crude oil from Russia
