The White House on Wednesday blamed Republican senators for exacerbating inflation, arguing that blocking President Biden’s nominees to the Federal Reserve Board has handicapped efforts to curb rising prices. Mr. Biden thinks that Republicans are “AWOL” in the inflation fight because they put the brakes on a key Fed nominee, said White House press secretary Jen Psaki. “Everyone understands we need a full Federal Reserve board, the first one in nearly a decade to tackle inflation and bring prices down for American families,” she said.(Snip)Republicans boycotted a Senate Banking Committee meeting on Tuesday to protest and delay advancing the nomination of Sarah Bloom Raskin as the Fed’s top

Comments:

It's not that the Treasury Department works closely with the Federal Reserve and the US House of Representatives to spend us into certain fiscal collapse, but rather that a few Republicans are wondering what the central bank has to do with global warming. Honk, honk. Thanks for the laffs, sloppy Jenny.

Oh really. How so Genius Jen? I nominate Dave Ramsey for the Chairman of the Fed Res Board. Let's see what his baby step one would be to eliminate the growing $30T national debt and stop the 40-year inflation high. It wouldn't be more deficit spending I can assure you.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has admitted soaring US inflation is 'not acceptable'—then insisted the American economy would be even worse were it not for the very spending by the Biden administration that has been blamed for soaring prices. Speaking to AFP, Yellen said of the rise in cost of living—which hit 7.5 per cent last month: 'Inflation is clearly a great concern to Americans, and it really needs to be addressed. 'Certainly it's not acceptable to stay at current levels.' Her words were in marked contrast to Joe Biden's, who has repeatedly insisted that surging inflation figures are 'elevated,' and a temporary phenomenon. Yellen—who is America's first female

Nearly a dozen men associated with the Brooklyn-based Woo gang were charged by Thursday with allegedly stealing more than $4 million in COVID-19 relief cash—and boasting about the scam in a music video, the feds said. The gang members were able to fleece some $4.3 million from the unemployment program between March 2020 and October 2021 as part of the scam, the feds said. Eight men in matching blue T-shirts circled the streets surrounding Minneapolis North Community High School just before the final school bell rang on a recent afternoon. They took note of idling cars and loitering teenagers—anything they could find that might signal trouble. The men, many of them North alumni, were working as "violence interrupters" hired to help keep the peace in the blocks around the school in the hours after dismissal. Their work is a part of a new program to ensure students at three city high schools are safe as students leave school grounds. As the drug overdose crisis in the United States exploded during the coronavirus pandemic–killing an unprecedented 100,000 people in 12 months–Black and Indigenous Americans were increasingly likely to become the victims. Drug overdose rates in America surged by 31% in 2020, according to figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as the pandemic left many facing lockdowns, and economic and emotional strain. But researchers at the University of California Los Angeles have found that the death rate surged most dramatically among Black and Indigenous Americans, who saw a staggering increase of 49% and 43% respectively in just one year.(Snip)“The increasing toxicity of

San Francisco—The San Francisco district attorney's stunning claim that California crime labs are using DNA from sexual assault survivors to investigate unrelated crimes shocked prosecutors nationwide, and advocates said the practice could affect victims' willingness to come forward. District Attorney Chesa Boudin said he became aware of the “opaque practice” last week after prosecutors found a report among hundreds of pages of evidence in the case against a woman recently charged with a felony property crime.
