A Texas A&M women's basketball assistant coach hit back after facing backlash for wearing pink leather pants and stilettos to a game. 'I'm unapologetically myself every day, I could care less if anybody thinks that I'm being extra,' Sydney Carter said in response to her critics. 'I'm not gonna turn up turn my light off because somebody else is offended or intimidated by the fact that I embrace myself.' The 31-year-old Aggies assistant coach believes race plays a major factor in the criticism. 'I just think that people are uncomfortable with a black woman being in a power position,' she told Yahoo. Comments:

Can white people excuse anything they do (including wanting to be left alone) as being unapologetically White? She means she could not care less, but you don't need to speak proper English at today's universities. They left out why she was allowed to ruin that expensive floor with her silly heels, and whether she twerked at any point.

She needs to study her black history. There have been dozens of black women in 'power' positions. Look up Shirely Chishom, and Barbara Jordan. I remember her and really liked her. She was elected over and over. Anytime a black person has to use their color as an excuse for their own stupidity, it just shows their ignorance. Who, over the age of 15, wears pink leather??

It's not about the color of your skin. It's the attitude that come with it that people have a problem with. Besides, wearing an outfit that a street walking would wear as a college coach is just inappropriate. I guess acting in a professional manner is foreign to these people.

She is a basketball coach, not a seal trainer! Maybe she wore the pink pants for breast cancer awareness day since the team all had pink shoes on. You can be "yourself" but dressing appropriately for your job should be a consideration while expressing yourself. Consider appropriate shoes for the basketball court that are still fashionable. You are a role model for your team. Show them how how to be appropriate in different situations.

When the University accepted the lady who was well known to them as their woman’s basketball coach, they had to also accept her culture and way of expressing herself as long as those factors were legal. If the University allows their coaches to wear their own outfits while coaching, she had the right to wear what she decided to wear, even if it consisted of bright colors and was cut in ways that would show off her female figure. If she did not attempt to play the race card when she explained her point she would have gained a lot of respect. The only problem I can see is her high heel shoes that are usually not allowed on basketball and other hard wood gym floors because they might strip the finish off the floors and for safety purposes. So if she could get Nike to manufacture high heel soft sole sneakers for her and other female athletes her turnout would be 100% OK.

Kim Mulkey (formerly Baylor, now LSU) and Muffet McGraw (formerly Notre Dame, now retired) wore stiletto heels courtside quite often. Muffet often wore rather short skirts and Kim often wears fairly tight pants. Both were/are highly successful head coaches and -- as far as I know -- both were/are generally considered attractive and fashionable. Notre Dame alums adored Muffet and by and large loved how fashion-forward she was. Kim is known for her huge closet and amazing number of shoes and outfits. I kind of enjoy how they can be successful in college sports and yet maintain their femininity. I'm fine with Sydney Carter's wardrobe. I wouldn't be comfortable (physically or mentally) in those pants or shoes, but if she is, then great.

I remember back in my days as a (volunteer) athletic director for a small Christian School. There was one girls bb team that we played against. The running joke among the other schools was that you could tell the importance of the game to their team by the height of the head coach's high heels. If she was wearing the stillettos, it was game on. The easy games, she'd be in flats.

If as a coach she wants to dress that way, let her! If the public doesn't necessarily approve and think it is unproffessional to dress in that attire, they are going to express their opinion. But to claim racism.... sorry, that dog don't hunt. People are so tired of hearing everything is racism. This was HER choice and had nothing to do with skin color, but her action alone. I would certainly hope she was hired for her skill as a coach as opposed to being hired due to skin color!

We shouldn’t be surprised that Hillary Clinton would continue to double down in the face of a mushrooming scandal. This has always been her strategy in handling such situations, and heaven knows she’s had plenty of experience. Whitewater? Pfft! Nothing to see here. Travelgate? Just a vast right-wing conspiracy. Benghazi? What difference could it possibly make? Hillary has survived more scandals than perhaps any politician in history, so her current hubris might be somewhat expected. But the goings-on with the Durham Probe is different. Hillary’s current hot water isn’t like the other cauldrons she’s been in.

A sports expert claims controversial transgender swimmer Lia Thomas deliberately underperformed during a recent race she won to make her advantage look less obvious. By comparing lap times for the medalists at the Ivy League Women's Championships' 500-yard free on Thursday, CBS sports analyst Ross Tucker posited that the trans UPenn swimmer 'produced a controlled effort below max for the race,' suggesting that she underperformed to minimize the appearance of an advantage over competitors. Thomas, who swam for the University of Pennsylvania's men's team as recently as 2019 when she began medically transitioning to a woman, recorded the fastest time of all swimmers in the women's 500-yard freestyle

During a portion of an interview with MSNBC released on Friday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) argued that we should be “cautious” about overreacting to election results in the California recall, Virginia, and San Francisco, and “recognize what we’re up against, which is mishegoss, which is full-time propaganda coming from a disciplined far, extreme right, that will continue to racially prime, continue to promote these cultural wars, in any way shape or form. I mean, they’re banning books.” Newsom stated, “I mean, talk about just the extreme with the absurdities that are going on in the CPAC early primary poll, which is all things Texas and Florida right now

One parent of a student at Weaver Elementary School in Los Alamitos, said she couldn’t believe it when her daughter returned from the trip and said the girls cabins were staffed with adult males who shared their sleeping area for the three-night trip. (snip) The camp, however, did not hesitate to confirm that men employed with the camp are allowed to stay in the cabins that suit their preferred pronouns.

American teenagers have gotten the short end of the stick for more than two years—being forced to attend school either in a mask or via Zoom, while missing out on countless rites of passage despite their virtually nonexistent chance of falling seriously ill from Covid-19. And now—as the far more mild Omicron strain enters the rear-view mirror and things begin to return to normal—used cars have become so expensive that many teens can't afford them, according to the Wall Street Journal.(Snip)Meanwhile, teenagers are earning less than before—with median wages for workers aged 16-19 having increased 14.6% over the last two years
