Thune Reacts to JBS Settlement, Not Sure
About Position on Cattle Compromise Bill

Lawmakers continue to work on a fix for the cattle markets with growing frustration in the country. South Dakota Senator John Thune says its understandable cattle producers would be upset with the recent news of JBS striking a $52.5 million settlement on beef price fixing when the Justice Department hasn’t released any information or conclusions on their ongoing investigations. He says he regularly pushes DOJ to get some conclusion to their pending probes because producers need some action. Thune hasn’t decided yet if he will support the Grassley Fischer compromise bill because he has concerns about the negotiated cash cattle mandates taking a marketing option off the table for some producers.

Comments:

Nothing says leadership like indecision while waiting for the big corporate donors to tell him what’s best for farmers.

You can bet that all the big meat packing houses are corrupt to their cores. Their business model is intentionally tuned to import illegals to work in their plants, and to bribe all that must be bribed so that the laws do not apply to them.

Politicians and Big Ag have one of the oldest relationships in the nation. Their love affair predates the Military Industrial Complex by decades. It’s a filthy business and I’m sure Thune is well versed in the ways of working the grift.

Find a local raiser (?) of beef, and a local meat processor, and get your beef possessed there. Some of the smaller processsors, like the shops around here, that process deer during the hunting season, also process beef and pork off season.

A federal agency is reviewing a so-called secret report on alleged vulnerabilities in Georgia's voting equipment. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, an arm of the Homeland Security Department, is assessing the fresh doubts being cast on the security of Dominion Voting Systems and is asking a judge to hold off on ordering the release of the report authored by Alex Halderman, a computer science professor at the University of Michigan, which could have implications for election technology used in states across the country.

Most of the focus on government policy during the COVID-19 pandemic has focused on the various steps—and often missteps—of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Yet behind the scenes lurks another governmental actor that may have an ever-larger influence over pharmaceutical development in the United States: The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which regulates competitive practices and oversees merger activity.

Do you trust the U.S. government? I don’t recommend it. Consider what John Kirby, a spokesman for the Pentagon, said a couple of days ago at a press briefing. “We believe,” Kirby said, that Russia is planning to stage a fake attack by Ukrainian military or intelligence forces against Russian sovereign territory, or against Russian speaking people,” in order to justify an invasion of Ukraine. Kirby had lots of details: “We believe that Russia would produce a very graphic propaganda video, which would include corpses and actors that would be depicting mourners, and images of destroyed locations, as well as military equipment,

The Texas Tribune spent January on the campaign trail with the Republicans looking to dislodge GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton. His primary challengers include Land Commissioner George P. Bush, former Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman and U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert of Tyler. They are all arguing he is unfit for office due to his ethical baggage, while Paxton is running on his record of suing President Joe Biden — and boasting the endorsement of Biden's predecessor, Donald Trump.

Karl Rove is, once again, beating the war drums. He is ready to send 18-year-olds like my son to fight nuclear Russia over Ukraine’s border so that he and the other neocons can talk like tough guys on TV. On Jan. 28, Karl Rove shared an article on his Twitter page written by Noah Rothman attacking American populists who are opposed to sending our troops to war with Russia. My view is that Mr. Rove despises “America First.” He loves war and the global economy that all these wars prop up.

Many doctors around the world started using the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) early on in the COVID-19 pandemic. Among them is Dr. Vladimir Zelenko, a practicing physician in a Jewish community in Monroe, New York. He garnered national attention in March 2020 when he told radio host Sean Hannity that he’d had a near-100% success rate treating COVID-19 patients with HCQ, azithromycin and zinc sulfate for five days. “I’ve seen remarkable results; it really prevents progression of disease, and patients get better,” he said at the time

Did Hillary Clinton or the Democratic National Committee ever pay Michael Avenatti? The question isn’t exactly new. It was at least hinted at as early as May 10, 2018. That day, Mark Penn, a former advisor to President Bill Clinton, published an op-ed in The Hill newspaper. At the time, the news was filled with the rantings of Avenatti, who gained his fame and notoriety representing former porn star Stormy Daniels. Daniels was claiming she was paid to cover up an affair with Donald Trump before he was elected president. Penn’s column raised several good questions.

Pfizer is now asking to authorize a dangerous, outdated shot for babies and toddlers, for whom the virus does not pose a statistical risk and for a virus against which the shots have failed to show any benefit. Yet, just as taxes and death are a certainty in life, you can bank on the FDA never turning down any Pfizer request. This is where Republican governors must serve as the safety net for the people. They must actively oppose expanding the shots to the final control group against the greatest experiment on mankind. In one of the most shocking and immoral moves since the beginning of the pandemic,

The administration is awarding $5 billion over five years to states to have them build thousands of electric vehicle charging stations. Another $2.5 billion will go out in grants to be decided later. It all comes from the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure plan that was enacted late last year and that the administration continues to sell, amid the collapse of Biden's Build Back Better plan. The U.S. Army unveiled a plan this week to tackle issues surrounding climate change, including the establishment of an electric vehicle fleet, as well as the reduction of the branch's greenhouse gas emissions. The plan, outlined by the Army in a document titled "Climate Strategy," calls for the service to cut its emissions by 50% by 2030 from 2005 levels and reach net-zero emissions by 2050. The strategy aims to establish an "all-electric light-duty non-tactical vehicle fleet by 2027" and an "all-electric non-tactical vehicle fleet by 2035." "There are 950 renewable energy projects supplying 480 megawatts of power to the Army today … scoped and planned through 2024," the Army strategy stated.

Alex Halderman, said in sworn declarations filed publicly with the court that he examined the Dominion Voting Systems machines for 12 weeks and identified “multiple severe security flaws” that would allow bad actors to install malicious software.
