The Oregon Court of Appeals has overturned a $135,000 fine imposed on a bakery that refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple in 2013.
The court upheld the 2017 ruling against Aaron and Melissa Klein, who owned a bakery called Sweetcakes by Melissa, but scrapped the fine.
Local station KOIN reports:
In an opinion released Wednesday, Jan. 26, the court upheld its original 2017 decision against the couple — Aaron and Melissa Klein, then doing business as Sweetcakes by Melissa — based on a 2015 determination by the Bureau of Labor and Industries that they violated Oregon’s 2007 law barring discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Next time just agree to make the stupid cake. Just switch salt for the sugar.

Everyone fears the gay mafia even the judiciary. Citizens rights go right out the window when they rub up against the hurt feelings of the gay community. This couple who owned a business they loved has been forced to close and spend their lives and money fighting a frivolous lawsuit brought on by individuals for no other reason than a vindictive mindset intent upon destroying this couple because they wanted to. They are not heroes, they are villains for persecuting this couple and ruining their business.

Is there nothing in or about Oregon worth saving, other than a golf course or two. Methinks not!

#4, I live in a conservative farm county, Tillamook County Oregon, far enough away from (thank God) Portland & Eugene. I don't even like driving to Portland if I can help it.

For $135K, the Kleins could have made the plaintiffs, Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer, "disappear."

The so called couple went to this bakery knowing damn well the bakery probably wouldn't make them a cake. They had a lawyer and a lawsuit already to go when the bakery said no. It was all about putting businesses out of business for not kowtowing to a deviant lifestyle.

The baker probably couldn't get the double-penis figurine for the top of the cake in time and didn't want to use live models.

When Mike Pence was governor of Indiana, the state legislature passed a law which would have prevented this kind of targeted law suit against religious people. He signed it and then the LGBTwhatever crowd went nuts. And then he caved to them and “unsigned” it. I was disappointed that PDT chose him as VP, so then his actions on 1/6/21 were no surprise to me.
This couple needs to get out of Oregon if they haven’t already. They should move down here to the very red Bible Belt where they truly will have religious freedom.

This couple is a reminder that Americans cannot be coerced into complying with YOUR wishes...WE are free to make our own judgement call...and if the confused gender crowd doesn't like it...tough...

As I recall, the fellow who decided they earned that fine also had a relative or close friend who happened to be gay. So this was not anything close to being an unbiased decision. Those two alleged customers had an agenda before they even walked into this bakery. They had every intention of destroying a business.

Business owners take licenses to operate. Virtually every jurisdiction has "anti-discrimination laws", with many including "sexual orientation" as a protected class of customer/client. Business is secular. The owners sign their rights away when they take the license. Change the law...go ahead and try.

Oregon is nuts! Years ago the State assisted people to commit suicide with their suicide pill. Then they made legal illegal, narcotic drugs of all kinds, even psycho mushrooms. Then the crazy tyrant Kate Brown, related to Moon Beam Gov. Jerry Brown, sent the police to people's homes if they weren't wearing face masks and quarantine themselves. Now Brown wants Oregonians to wear face masks forever! Are these liberals crazy, insane or nuts? Or is it they've smoked too much weed?
Some sane people we have met are saying, Remove Kate Brown, turn Oregon around!

Prepare a contract for each cake stating that the proceeds for cakes sold for sodomite weddings will be donated to a charity that helps cure sodomites of their perversion in the name of the grooms.
Purchasers consent to the use of their names and likeness in ads celebrating the donation.
And have a fixed design element of each such cake that proudly repeats Leviticus 18:22

I would have slapped a cake together and charged them a specialty price. It would not be worth my life to be tied up in court for an eternity and also the cost. That is just me. Everyone should do what the feel is right for them.

And it only cost this couple $10,000 per year for 13 years. It would take me a long time to quit hating these pervs if the fine was only $10
