NYC restaurants starved for diners —
crime and COVID blamed

New Yorkers have plenty of reservations—about going out to eat. Table bookings in Manhattan restaurants are down 64% in January 2022 compared to pre-pandemic January 2020–only San Francisco (-66%) and Cambridge, Mass. (-75%) have fared worse, according to new data released by OpenTable and crunched by celebrity statistician Nate Silver of Brooklyn boites are starved for diners, too, with reservations down 55%. Data for the other boroughs were not available. “It’s a ghost town out there,” one Little Italy restaurant manager told The Post, citing the failure of city officials to contain crime and chaos, which drives away both tourists and local diners.

Uncontrolled mayhem, sure, but the requirement that everyone, even young children, must be vaccinated has killed their businesses, in part by destroying the tourist trade. Don't they deserve more federal bailouts?

You demand, politically, that everyone be masked and vaccinated, and call the police and have your customers arrested if they aren't, unless they're an elite. Then you cry when you have no business. And you keep electing the same type of politicians. That’s a special kind of stupid. Elections have consequences! But at least, no mean tweets, at least not being reported.

Restaurants can say they died from the shots and mask mandates to add to it the cost is too much to risk your life to go out to eat. Shopping for bread and meat at the corner store is now too dangerous. Thank a New York City politician and the DA for your problems that you voted for. No tears from me.

Too many of these high profile restaurants supported the vax to dine mandate, and deserve exactly what they get, especially Danny Meyer's restaurants. I live in the area, and people stay in NJ or on LI, and don't need to swim in open sewers. NYC is a ghost town...yet rents and condo prices continue to go up, delusionally. Yesterday's funeral of Officer Rivera I pray marks a turning point. His widow and brother, in front of thousands of NYPD and brother/sister officers, called out both the mayor and DA. It'll be repeated next week with the second funeral.

LOL! This is the inevitable outcome of Dempanic rules. I ate at a favorite restaurant last night with two friends. The place was packed, we took the last couple of parking places and had to wait a bit for a table. Some of the staff was wearing masks, apparently mandated by the main office, since it is a many state chain of restaurants. Very few patrons had masks. NYC creates it's own problems. NYC IS a problem.

Within the last week, some European countries have scrapped all Covid mandates due to their people rising up in the streets. Until we Americans, in the blue cities do the same, nothing will change. I live in a red county within a blue state & we’ve been back to normal for well over a year now. Some places have posted mask requirements, but we just don’t wear them. Our county commissioners said from the very beginning that they would not enforce the mandates. For those private businesses that require them, we don’t give them our business.

Hunter Biden and two business associates received a grand jury subpoena regarding their business dealings in China about 17 months before the 2020 presidential election, The Post has learned. The order sent by the Department of Justice to JP Morgan Chase bank asked for the records of any international financial transactions for the past five years involving Hunter, his uncle James Biden and former business partners Devon Archer and Eric Schwerin, according to federal documents. The anti-corruption nonprofit Marco Polo, founded by former Trump administration official Garrett Ziegler, obtained the filing, which targets the financial ties between the four men and the Bank of China.

The US Treasury said on Friday it is considering alternatives to facial-recognition technology to verify identities for online taxpayer accounts after some lawmakers raised privacy concerns. The $86 million partnership between the Internal Revenue Service and private contractor, which was announced in November, would be one of the biggest expansions of facial recognition software made by the US government. The measure has been met with criticism from lawmakers, who argue that the software is intrusive and inaccurate. Representative Ted Lieu, a California Democrat, called the move a 'very, very bad idea, ' adding that facial recognition is less accurate with dark skin tones.

He tried to flee the scene, but police caught up with him. The Homeland Security Department initially said it wanted authorities to pick him up and deport him once Texas punished him, but then it changed its mind. Under rules issued in September by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Fuerte-Padilla doesn’t qualify as a priority anymore. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also told Texas that it was canceling deportation requests—known as “detainers”—on other illegal immigrants, including some who pleaded guilty to felony charges

The CDC COVID-19 record card you get with your vaccine is too large to fit in your wallet, yet small enough to be easily misplaced. But the little cardboard cards are becoming increasingly important if you want to get out of the house, as venues in the Twin Cities and elsewhere require that they be shown if you want to see a show or dine out. As of Jan. 19, Minneapolis and St. Paul started requiring patrons to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to dine in bars, restaurants and other places where food and drinks are served.(Snip)Blinged-up vaccine card holders allow you

Former FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb said Sunday that a COVID-19 vaccine for children age 4 and under could be approved by early March. Gottlieb said the authorization would depend on whether federal officials move forward with Pfizer’s two-dose candidate, as opposed to the three-dose one added last month to the company’s clinical trials. The two-dose shot could presumably be approved the fastest of the two, since trials on it are further ahead, so it’s just a question of whether its potency is considered enough protection for the age group at this point, Gottlieb said. “Getting two doses into a child can provide baseline immunity that protects
