After yet another person was pushed onto New York City subway tracks over the weekend, the head of the city's transit agency is urging people to stay away from the edge of platforms across a sprawling system where the mayor has acknowledged people do not feel safe as crime rises citywide. The Metropolitan Transit Authority also is looking at making changes to subway platforms, MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber told CNN affiliate WABC on Sunday. "These incidents are unacceptable and have to stop," Lieber said in a statement. A 62-year-old man suffered minor injuries Sunday morning after he was

This is not just New York. But it is indicative and a symbol of the level to which quality of life has been degraded and brought in these United States - by the Demokrats. If we don't give heed then we richly deserve whatever we are getting are about to get.

that's right all you fools who entitle yourselves as "politicians", berate the victim and absolve the criminal. if that makes sense to the general public, there is no hope for our society.

Stay away from the platform edge? Duh! Common sense. When I lived in Chicago I didn't go near the L or subway platform edge.

We need homeless control. Ban the homeless that get their kicks from killing innocent people.

I guess it would make too much sense to ask people to look out for each other. Like speaking up and warning someone that some nutjob was getting too close. Especially in New York where one is expected to only care about oneself, and to hell with everyone else.

Simple solution - - It's time to build subway platforms which don't have edges!
Why can I think of that - - while none of the subway experts can?

I was in NYC a few years back as a tourist. Even I knew not to stand near the edge of the platform. I didn't have to be told.

That's it - another warning Label. Like the ones on power mowers: ' for cutting grass only' or on spaghetti strainers: 'this product causes cancer in California'

Or wait at the end of the platform where the train is already slowing to a complete stop when it gets there.

Maybe they can post some of them Violence Interrupters on subway platforms. That ought to do it.

"These incidents are unacceptable and have to stop"
That should fix it.
Anyone caught alive after pushing someone off of the platform should be tied to the front of a subway train for a day, before they are executed if the victim perished. Sort of like being in the stocks. That would show how unacceptable it is.

File under "No Duh!" I've ridden the subway in NYC countless times, and it was always obvious to me to stand against the wall until the train is completely in the station, as well as being aware of who is in your immediate vicinity. Taking simple precautions goes a long way to ensuring your personal safety.

Ya know --- I figured this out years and years ago, all by my self. Why would I trust some crowd of random strangers in a huge city with my life? It seemed obvious to me the first time I rode on a subway. And having ridden on many subways in many countries, my wife and I always have stood with our backs to the wall, so nobody can be behind us, and so we are well away from the edge. Typically it is but a few steps to the car when it stops, and I don't care if people crowd in ahead of me.
Use your brains people, it is your primary weapons system.

How about scooping up all the mentally ill people that wander the streets and put them in institutions where they can have a better life and so can the rest of us.

Simple question...why aren't there high strong fences on the platform with entry points only at the doors...that open only after the Subway STOPS?

Problem solved ! Stand way back and be the last one getting on the train. Enjoy getting that last seat between the gang banger and homeless dude who has not showered in 4 weeks.
