The overwhelming majority of Senate Democrats will soon move to eliminate the filibuster -- which has protected the rights of the chamber’s minority for more than a century – because they feel the need to pass ‘voting rights legislation’ is just too intense to be blocked by the 60-vote threshold.
By merging several pieces of legislation into one mega-bill and calling it the ‘Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act,’ Democrats are trying to scare people into believing that if the bill doesn’t pass, they will lose their right to vote.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is finally giving his progressive colleagues a chance to vent their frustrations with Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) over the stalled Democratic agenda.
With Democratic control of Congress in serious danger of slipping away and President Biden’s legislative agenda stalled, frustrated Democrats are looking for someone to blame and Schumer this week is giving them a cathartic chance to point the finger.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer will propose a talking filibuster in an attempt to persuade Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., to change Senate rules and allow a vote on the Democratic-led effort to overhaul the U.S. election system.
"If the Republicans block cloture on the legislation before us, I will put forward a proposal to change the rules to allow for a talking filibuster on this legislation," the New York Democrat said Tuesday after a meeting with Senate Democrats to discuss a path forward for the legislation. "Historically, changes to the Senate rules have been necessary to adapt to a change circumstances."

Ray Epps, the Arizona man at the center of claims that FBI informants provoked the Capitol riot, is scheduled to sit down for a transcribed interview with the Jan. 6 House select committee Friday.
The select committee disclosed last Tuesday that Epps told them during an interview in November that he had no involvement with the FBI or any other law enforcement agency before, during, or after the Capitol riot. Epps's lawyer, John Blischak, told Politico that the meeting was merely a precursor for the more formal transcribed interview scheduled to take place Friday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) went off on the GOP and moderate Democrat senators who are standing in the way of the Democrats’ radical voting agenda, claiming opponents of the legislation and a change to filibuster rules are “dishonoring” the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and making our deceased forefathers and leaders like MLK and President Abraham Lincoln have “tears in their eyes,” unless the bills are passed.

Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday said she is "not going to absolve" senators who stand in the way of Democratic-led legislation aimed at overhauling the U.S. election system.
Harris, who made the comments in response to a question about Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va, and Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., also suggested that legislators standing in the way of passing the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act are failing to uphold their oath to defend the Constitution.
"The United States Senate has the opportunity and, I daresay, the responsibility to pass these bills through Congress so the president can sign them.

With drama and fury, President Joe Biden declared to the nation on Martin Luther King Jr. Day that state laws requiring voter ID or banning mass mailing of absentee ballots amounted to an "assault on our freedom to vote," especially for minority Americans.
Four days earlier, a poll in Michigan told a different story: Three-quarters of the battleground state voters supported ballot ID requirements, with black voters expressing the highest support at 79%.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema dashed uphill efforts by Democrats to alter the Senate’s longstanding filibuster rules, announcing in a floor speech Thursday she “will not support” the change.
Sinema, an Arizona centrist who has largely remained silent as Democrats have struggled to round up support for the change, will make it impossible for the party to pass partisan voting overhaul bills with the simple majority they sought.
“Eliminating the 60-vote threshold will simply guarantee that we lose a critical tool that we need to safeguard our democracy from threats in the years to come,” Sinema said.

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace said Tuesday on her show “Deadline” that she was a “groupie” of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Professor of Epidemiology Dr. Anne Rimoin said, “Nicolle, everybody is not necessarily going to get it. We have the tools to be able to prevent people from getting it.”
Wallace said, “How? I have used all those tools. I am triple vaxed. I wear a mask everywhere except when I sit down, and I put it on before I get up, and I am going to get it. How do you not get Omicron?”

The impact the Omicron variant has had on the nation's skyrocketing Covid infections may have been overblown by as much as 50 percentage points after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention slashed its estimate for the prevalence of the strain in COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.
The agency released a revised chart on Tuesday showing that the new variant accounted for 23 percent of all cases for the week ending on December 18, as opposed to the 73 percent it originally reported.
The CDC corrected its error, to the confusion of many...

China, under fire for approving new coal power stations as other countries try to curb greenhouse gases, has completed the first 1,000-megawatt unit of the Shanghaimiao plant, the biggest of its kind under construction in the country. Located in Ordos in the coal-rich northwestern region of Inner Mongolia, the plant will eventually have four generating units, and is designed to deliver power to the eastern coastal Shandong province via a long-distance ultra-high voltage grid. China is responsible for more than half of global coal-fired power generation and is expected to see a 9% year-on-year increase in 2021, an International Energy Agency report published this month said. Comments:
The ridiculous dog and pony show continues. The amount of backflipping and pretzel logic to cover up Epps' involvement should at least provide some amusement. This clown reeks of Fed plant and agent provocateur, but you can bet they are going to do a complete whitewash on why he hasn't been charged and was removed from the Most Wanted List.
