Sen. Kyrsten Sinema dashed uphill efforts by Democrats to alter the Senate’s longstanding filibuster rules, announcing in a floor speech Thursday she “will not support” the change.
Sinema, an Arizona centrist who has largely remained silent as Democrats have struggled to round up support for the change, will make it impossible for the party to pass partisan voting overhaul bills with the simple majority they sought.
“Eliminating the 60-vote threshold will simply guarantee that we lose a critical tool that we need to safeguard our democracy from threats in the years to come,” Sinema said.

I hope Schumer runs the vote anyway. The House is already on record supporting states from running their own elections. Lots of good ads for this fall.

Thank heavens for her & Sen. Manchin's common sense on this issue!

Our Republic's future dangles on such a weak thread.
Kudos for the courage of Sinema and Manchin.
Prayers for the help of Divine Providence.

I think they will vote so they can say to their base that they did the best they could.

I wish Schumer and Piglosi would stop saying that Sinema and Manchin are stopping their (disastrous) agenda. It is a majority of 52 that is stopping their agenda. I know Pelosi is gaga and Schumer not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but just how clueless are these people?

I would bet anything that Chuck & Nancy have even more egregious backup plans ready to go.

I can understand Manchin. He is about as safe as any Demon-Rat could be that goes against his Demon-Rat overlords. He comes from a conservative state, and if he met an "untimely demise", he would almost certainly be replaced by a Republican. The Demon-Rats have to keep him healthy to support them the other 95% of the time and keep control of the Senate.
But I am totally impressed with Sinema's stand on this. She isn't safe at all, since the odds are that she would be replaced by another Demon-Rat if anything "unexpectedly" happened to her.

I don’t trust Manchin and Sinema because they are rats. And I won’t declare victory on stopping the $5 trillion democrat bill and repeal of the filibuster until the Republican majority is sworn in.

If there wasn't voter fraud in Georgie, the Republicans would be up by two in the Senate. We'd never be hearing this ridiculous nonsense.

Great speech, Sr. Sinema! Profile in Courage. I don't agree with her politically, but I do agree with her belief in the moderating system of the Senate. Watch the whole thing, play it for your kids.

Manchin and Sinema are two Democrats from a different time when people like "Scoop" Jackson and Estes Kefauver had the best interests of the country in mind when they voted or proposed legislation. I certainly prefer Manchin and Sinema to some well-known RINOs now in the senate.

Best thing to do, OP, is post articles early in the morning as those tend to be the ones that make the Must Read list. What you posted today is highly relevant, so don't be discouraged.

So, 48 dems are in favor of it. There's been so much focus on Manchin and Sinema, are we sure that Delecto and the other Republican never-Trumpers are safely on our side with this one?

Romney has come out in opposition to the Schumer plan. Sinema may not have to steal the next election.

Thank God a few Democrats are putting their country before their political party. I was wondering how the retired US Navy Captain and space jockey zero Mark Kelly, Arizona's other Senator, stands on supporting Schumer's attempt to steal all future elections? Kelly would to well to remember the oath he too when he joined the military to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Schumer's scheme doesn't do that.

I have largely stopped posting because I am not a fan of the way articles here tend to disappear, but this is breaking and appears to drive a final nail into the coffins of the Democrap Agenda.
