Reps. Jim Langevin of Rhode Island and Jerry McNerney of California mark the 27th and 28th House Democrats not running for reelection in 2022 as analysts expect a favorable year for Republicans. Both members announced their retirements on Tuesday. “I will keep working for the people of my district throughout the remainder of my term and look forward to new opportunities to continue to serve,” McNerney, 70, said in a tweet. McNerney has represented California in Congress since 2007, in the 9th District since 2013 and in the old 11th District before that. Langevin, 57, wrote a Providence Journal op-ed

I predicted that there would be a lot of rats deserting this sinking ship, and it seems correct. Could be over 30, looks like. And then how many will lose? I think we only need to flip six or seven seats to take control, so even if only 1/3 of these change hands, it's enough. Likely to be a LOT more than just enough.

McNerney (Cal 9th) is a Cooks PVI of D+8. That's impossible to flip. But Langevin (RI 2nd) is D+4. In the current environment, that's possible to flip. Of the 435 currently in congress, only 3 upset more than PVU of +4. Golden-D (Maine 2nd) won over an R+6 district. There are only two +5 upsets. GOP won a D+5 in Cal, and the Dems won an R+5 in Pa. It's about the numbers...

Not impossible to flip, #8, if it were a R+8 district. I wouldn't consider R+20 safe with the widespread election fraud, ballot box stuffing, harvesting, and running of ballots over and over through counting machines. But, +8 is probably more than safe for a commie.

Believe Virginia was +10, and perceived to be an easy win. I sense they're noticing the higher level of scrutiny on voter registration rolls, voting machines, and how large of a shift in party identification has swayed over to Republicans. Plus, they're seeing the level of distrust Hispanics have for the democrat party which means they can't count on them to vote for democrat candidates. GOP needs to ensure they have a Republican candidate on every ballot in every House district. Hopefully, running an active campaign too. Will be fun to watch Maxine Waters in the House minority again, and maybe an investigation or two too.

Problem is, most of these Dems. are leaving re-drawn even-more-safe districts that probably will elect an even farther-to-the-left buffoon than the one leaving. But with good candidates and vigilant voters, a few of them can be flipped. Let's just hope Republican states wise up and use redistricting like Democrats use to protect and expand their count (ie - California, Illinois, New York and others).

President Biden on Wednesday predicted Russia will once again invade Ukraine, speaking at a news conference in which he also made confusing remarks about how the United States and its allies would respond to Russian action short of a full-scale, multipronged offensive. (Snip) Biden also suggested that a “minor incursion” by Russian forces, as opposed to a full-scale invasion, may not prompt the severe response Washington and its allies have threatened, creating confusion about how the United States would react to a Russian attack short of a devastating offensive and large-scale occupation. “I think what you’re going to see is

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has clarified the White House’s stance on a potential invasion of Ukraine by Russia after President Joe Biden made an odd remark about the situation. New York - President Joe Biden's 2022 is off to a dreadful start. Prices at the pump could make it even worse. Crude oil has already zoomed back to two-month highs. Over the past three years, dozens of cities across the country have banned natural gas hookups in newly constructed buildings as part of a growing campaign to reduce carbon emissions from homes. The movement scored a major victory last month, when New York City’s outgoing Mayor Bill de Blasio signed into law a ban on gas hookups in new buildings. Though new laws apply to the entire home, the policy debate often focuses on one room in particular: the kitchen. Gas stoves account for a relatively small share of the emissions released by a typical household, but they’ve become a

New York - Americans shopped less in December, causing the first drop in retail sales since the summer. Sales dropped 1.9% compared with November, adjusted for seasonal swings, the Census Bureau reported Friday. The decline in sales coincided with the surge in Covid cases due to the highly infectious Omicron variant. In July, the last time sales dropped, it was on the back of cases rising due to the Delta variant. Restaurants and bars registered a 0.8% decline in sales in December as people stayed home to protect themselves against the virus, for example. But there was more at play than

“Annus horribilis,” a Latin term that means “horrible year” is a term once famously deployed by the Queen of England to describe 1992, a tumultuous year upon which she declared she would not regard fondly. Given current trends, the same label may yet apply to the year 2022, as inflationary pressures scorch U.S. consumers at a rate not seen in decades, souring the political fortunes of a U.S. president barely a year into his term. It’s also conspiring to make a tough job even tougher for the Federal Reserve chairman he’s recommending for a second term. On Wednesday, data showed
