Over the past three years, dozens of cities across the country have banned natural gas hookups in newly constructed buildings as part of a growing campaign to reduce carbon emissions from homes. The movement scored a major victory last month, when New York City’s outgoing Mayor Bill de Blasio signed into law a ban on gas hookups in new buildings. Though new laws apply to the entire home, the policy debate often focuses on one room in particular: the kitchen. Gas stoves account for a relatively small share of the emissions released by a typical household, but they’ve become a

Have you ever been to a restaurant that used an electric range? Gas is cheaper and does a better job. I hate that this country is turning into a police state.

Electric stoves, furnaces, water heaters and cars. All power hungry loads on a grid that’s already marginal due to windmills and solar shingles. What could go wrong? Do Bernie, Brandon, AOC etc. have electrical engineering degrees?

Anyone talked to any chefs or restaurateurs? Gas IS how restaurants cook anything outside an oven. Also, many ethnic cuisines use gas specifically. Try getting a good quality stir fry or fried rice without it. Those special gas hobs in Chinese restaurants are gas fueled and hot as blast furnaces. Electric just can't get it done.

There is so much dishonesty in the media, I don’t believe the cited negatives for gas stoves. I have used gas and electric stoves. Believe me gas stoves are far superior AND safer. Answer me,how is the electricity generated. Not wind, not solar panels, try internal combustion engines. The green ways each have serious issues.

Sooner or later there are going to be serious shortages of electricity in the United States. The shortages in Texas during February of 2021 are a small preview. People who are required to use electric stoves are not going to appreciate that they were not allowed to choose natural gas. Politicians will assume no responsibility.

Electricity for homes comes from gas fired power plants. Less gas in homes means more gas needed for gas powered electric power plants. Advocates cannot be this stupid and this proves they have an energy agenda Americans don't want. This is how oppressive government works.

I greatly prefer a gas stove. From the original source of energy....the natural gas, they are about 100% efficient. Electric stoves ......suffer in that the creation of electricity wastes about 65% of the energy in the gas, or coal. Then more electricity is lost in the transmission process. Perhaps 25% of the energy in the original source, gas, coal or whatever....is actually used to heat your food. Horribly wasteful. And CO2 is a beneficial plant growth requirement. More is better.

Speculation has begun about the 2024 Democratic presidential ticket, almost three years before the election. Some of the suggestions are blasted as risible. But the early chatter itself reveals the nervousness that permeates the party. In the past week alone, New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman held out the possibility of anti-Trump Republican Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.) being added as President Biden’s 2024 running mate. (Snip) Straddling the line between reality and fantasy is a long-cherished notion for many Democrats: a Michelle Obama candidacy. New York - Americans shopped less in December, causing the first drop in retail sales since the summer. Sales dropped 1.9% compared with November, adjusted for seasonal swings, the Census Bureau reported Friday. The decline in sales coincided with the surge in Covid cases due to the highly infectious Omicron variant. In July, the last time sales dropped, it was on the back of cases rising due to the Delta variant. Restaurants and bars registered a 0.8% decline in sales in December as people stayed home to protect themselves against the virus, for example. But there was more at play than

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden is planning to sign executive actions on police reform as early as this month, three people familiar with the plans said, as his administration seeks to unilaterally jumpstart an issue that’s a top priority for a key constituency. The executive actions would follow Biden’s uphill battle to advance voting rights legislation, and could coincide with a similar effort by some Democratic lawmakers to revive the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which stalled on Capitol Hill after failed attempts to craft a bipartisan measure. The focus on police reforms is part of what appears to

“Annus horribilis,” a Latin term that means “horrible year” is a term once famously deployed by the Queen of England to describe 1992, a tumultuous year upon which she declared she would not regard fondly. Given current trends, the same label may yet apply to the year 2022, as inflationary pressures scorch U.S. consumers at a rate not seen in decades, souring the political fortunes of a U.S. president barely a year into his term. It’s also conspiring to make a tough job even tougher for the Federal Reserve chairman he’s recommending for a second term. On Wednesday, data showed

Inflation has become one of the top economic issues in the U.S., and the Biden administration is acting accordingly with various policy actions. U.S. consumer prices rose 0.5% in December and 7.0% on a year-over-year basis, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It's the fastest rate since 1982. Two of the biggest drivers of price spikes over 2021 have been in food and energy which is likely the reason the White House has focused on both of those sectors both for inflation as well as antitrust reasons. Tying the two issues together is not without critics, even among Democrats.
