Inflation threatens to turn 2022 into
‘annus horribilis’ for Powell, Biden

“Annus horribilis,” a Latin term that means “horrible year” is a term once famously deployed by the Queen of England to describe 1992, a tumultuous year upon which she declared she would not regard fondly. Given current trends, the same label may yet apply to the year 2022, as inflationary pressures scorch U.S. consumers at a rate not seen in decades, souring the political fortunes of a U.S. president barely a year into his term. It’s also conspiring to make a tough job even tougher for the Federal Reserve chairman he’s recommending for a second term. On Wednesday, data showed

(sorry, bumped the wrong key) simultaneous operations..... not atomic missile launches, but ground operations, with the threat of atomic missile launches if the USA opposes them. Russia against Ukraine, China against Taiwan, Iran against Iraq and whoever is in the area, and NoKorea against South Korea, all at the same time. With The HairSniffer in the White House, these unfortunately have a good chance of success.

The bad thing for Biden and his minions is they have no idea why we have inflation and what they did to cause it. The good thing for America is Biden and his minions have no idea how to fix it and will wipe out the liberal faction for many years!

All this talk that inflation is due to 'too much money in the system' and 'demand increases as the economy opens back up' may have a degree of merit, but to me the Elephant in the Room is Bai-Den's slamming a boot on the neck of the oil companies. Shut off the supply of fuel, the price goes WAY up, and that drives up the cost to make and move everything else. I think much of the inflation is not caused by greed, it is caused by the increased cost to do ANYTHING, due to the greatly increased cost of fuel.

MINNEAPOLIS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say they have confiscated bushmeat multiple times since December at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. CBP said officers seized over 100 pounds in the last week of December from U.S. citizens returning from Liberia. The trend “could have deadly effects and lead to another outbreak of disease,” a release said. (Snip) The Minnesota Department of Agriculture says bushmeat is raw or minimally processed meat which comes from wild animals such as monkeys, cane rats, bats, and other nonhuman primates. New York - Americans shopped less in December, causing the first drop in retail sales since the summer. Sales dropped 1.9% compared with November, adjusted for seasonal swings, the Census Bureau reported Friday. The decline in sales coincided with the surge in Covid cases due to the highly infectious Omicron variant. In July, the last time sales dropped, it was on the back of cases rising due to the Delta variant. Restaurants and bars registered a 0.8% decline in sales in December as people stayed home to protect themselves against the virus, for example. But there was more at play than

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden is planning to sign executive actions on police reform as early as this month, three people familiar with the plans said, as his administration seeks to unilaterally jumpstart an issue that’s a top priority for a key constituency. The executive actions would follow Biden’s uphill battle to advance voting rights legislation, and could coincide with a similar effort by some Democratic lawmakers to revive the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which stalled on Capitol Hill after failed attempts to craft a bipartisan measure. The focus on police reforms is part of what appears to

Inflation has become one of the top economic issues in the U.S., and the Biden administration is acting accordingly with various policy actions. U.S. consumer prices rose 0.5% in December and 7.0% on a year-over-year basis, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It's the fastest rate since 1982. Two of the biggest drivers of price spikes over 2021 have been in food and energy which is likely the reason the White House has focused on both of those sectors both for inflation as well as antitrust reasons. Tying the two issues together is not without critics, even among Democrats.

President Joe Biden was not making a 'human' comparison between opponents of his voter rights push with racists and segregationists in a speech this week, said the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Friday. The clean-up came after critics accused Biden of divisive rhetoric, and the president has since seen his initiative collapse as two hold-out Democratic senators said they could not support his plan to change Senate rules in order to pass the legislation.
