New York - Americans shopped less in December, causing the first drop in retail sales since the summer. Sales dropped 1.9% compared with November, adjusted for seasonal swings, the Census Bureau reported Friday. The decline in sales coincided with the surge in Covid cases due to the highly infectious Omicron variant. In July, the last time sales dropped, it was on the back of cases rising due to the Delta variant. Restaurants and bars registered a 0.8% decline in sales in December as people stayed home to protect themselves against the virus, for example. But there was more at play than

Bidenflation, Democrat Lockdown Doom & Gloom, Manufactured Crisis of the Day, Corporate Wokeness-Go-Brokeness. Who feels like consuming mass quantities? The Boomers already have everything, the young kids can't afford anything.

Surprisingly!?
Hardly! Only to those that have no eyes with which to view or
ears with which to listen.....d'rats. What do retailers sell (after criticizing
all customers)? Empty displays in trade for empty pockets?
Where do these clowns get their economic education? School for Dummies?

Only surprising to the media, which has been the minion of the democrat party for quite awhile now. The rest of us who have been paying attention, can we say 'DUH'? I knew we could.

Not a surprise for me, or for that matter anyone who stops at a gas station or a grocery store to purchase a "few" food items.
I wonder if the democrats have anything to do with it . . . . . ?

Get ready for more 'unexped-ness' CNN said 'Consumer spending should rebound in the spring, however, given the combination of a strong labor market, income growth and excess savings. That "will support above-trend consumption growth this year,"

So what. He's a Pelosi, he's a democrat, those who are born into total immunity. The media will bury any evidence in the same place they buried Hunter Biden's laptop. Buried in the corruption vault of the communist democratic party.

Sadly, this past Christmas, all we gave our adult kids was money as their main gifts. With biden-flation causing prices to be so high and selection to be so limited, I just didn't want to waste the time shopping for actual gifts.
My husband did make them each something in his wood shop so they would have something a little more personal. And with the price of wood these days being out the roof, those were probably pretty special.

I heard a news report today that the reason why retail sales are so far down is covid. Yeah, sure. I don’t suppose it has anything to do with all of those empty shelves.

How about using some other numbers to justify the drop in sales. The fact that stuff has gotten to damn expensive thanks to our glorious leader and his merry band of thugs.

Here is a clue. I try to walk the mall to shop but the face mask makes me whoozy after 15 minutes, then I bolt. Get it?
