Donald Trump's Alleged Anti-Semitism

Original Article

Liberal Jewish outlets and the liberal media are charging Donald Trump with anti-Semitism, on the basis of his recent remarks to Israeli journalist Barak Raviv: (Snip) The line about “absolute power over Congress” is cringeworthy. Yes, it is an anti-Semitic trope. Trump fits the canonical definition of a philo-Semite (an anti-Semite who likes Jews). He harbors some anti-Semitic prejudices about the extent of Jewish power. But he’s still a friend of the Jewish people and of the State of Israel. Before the 2016 election, an Israeli politician asked me what I thought of Trump (full disclosure: I worked for Ted Cruz in 2016). I said,

Comments:

Spengler (Goldman) voted for Trump twice. And, if I grok what he has written here, he would vote for Trump a third time. As would many of us.

I disagree, Mr. Goldman. 'Absolute power over Congress' is neither anti-semitic not 'cringeworthy'. It is a truthful statement albeit a typical Trumpian exaggeration.

I would urge #2 to read the article. Spengler is pretty much spot on in this essay. As an evangelical Christian, I am a passionate supporter of Israel and the Jewish state. Everything PDJT did as president vis à vis Israel was what he should have done. No other president before him had the cojones to to what he did, such as move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

I know what he's trying to say but it borders on psychobabble. This is the trap that one falls into by focusing on people as groups rather than individuals. Hollywood is run by Jews and I hate all things Hollywood but that does not make me an anti-semite. Jews run the diamond district in NYC but I don't care anything about diamonds. Israel is obviously run by Jews but they have the best and strongest country in the Middle East but they are not much like American Jews. Jews run Jewish delis and I love Jewish delis. Blacks don't run professional sports and I hate professional sports for what they have become. I don't hate blacks but my respect for them is dwindling although I still find Thomas Sowell, Candice Owens and Ben Carson to be some of the finest people on the planet. You can tie yourself into pretzels by obsessing about any of this.

Grok was coined six decades ago by Robert Heinlein in Stranger in a Strange Land. A very good descriptor, that's one word Mr. Buckley didn't teach me. A majority of American Jews--at least most of the ones I have known and befriended since first grade--aren't registered as Republicans, and probably don't vote as I do. I can live with that. But the ones who are my political allies are great, trusted friends and MVPs (so to speak) of reason, common sense, and human decency. I try to be the same way myself. That's why these friendships are eternal.

This is awful thin, almost a form of kvetching, looking for the anti-Semitism that doesn't exist except in some intellectual's deep thinking. What FPDT said about Israel and Congress is true. What Israel wanted, Israel got back in those days. The US public backed Israel and its existence. It was good domestic politics. Times have changed politically. The propaganda wars are having their intended effect. Israel took American political support for granted. The Left made the pro-Palestinean cause legit in terms of political discussion. And that's where we are.

Now its Trump hates Jews? Rubbish. Go ask the people of Israel of what their opinion is of Trump. For the record, I think Jews like Schumer are JINOs, and there are a whole lot of them in America. They are only religious when it comes time for the Jewish community to get out their checkbooks for a contribution.

President Trump has a tendency to occasionally say things in a way that construes the wrong meaning. I am certain his "absolute power over Congress" was actually meant to say that Congress supported Israel 100%. That would still be an exaggeration, but he's correct in that the support has flipped with Democrat control.

Goldman has jumped the shark willingly many times. This is another one of those times apparently. If Trump hated the Jewish people, he would not have allowed his kids to marry into the Faith they observe. He just would not. The worst haters of the Israeli Jews are the American secular Jews. They have no clue about their Israeli cousins, or even their observant American cousins as well. Leftist, secular Jews who pursue an American hating agenda are a scourge on this nation.

I said, “Imagine if Hitler had liked Jews!” Right from the jump this guy was equating Trump to Hitler, still voted for him twice and would again. History's WORST Villain, yet people feel free to call ANYONE they don't like for any reason by that blood libel, then quickly excuse themselves not only for the insult, but also the association. Personally I equate anti-semite/Racist as a Blood Libel, an accusation/insult just marginally less bad than Child Molester. And would require some pretty serious PROOFS before using it or allowing it to be used. Currently the US left and even some who declare themselves conservative use the former terms willy nilly for nearly anyone/anything...and make apology for those that the latter actually applies to.

The Leftist political and media elites are desperately afraid of Donald Trump, even more than they were when they relentlessly defamed him and tried to run him out of office with a hoax collusion conspiracy and a tempest in a teapot over a routine phone call. A Trump return to the White House on January 20, 2025, would represent a massive repudiation of those who have arrogated to themselves the authority to tell us what to think, and those self-appointed intellectual and moral superiors are doing everything they can think of to try to preserve their crumbling hegemony. Most of us who lived through that miserable decade associate it with economic malaise, notably including massive inflation and 18% interest rates. Yeah, think about 18% interest, all you folks with an adjustable rate loan. You’re spoiled by cheap money and low inflation. You are about to learn a lesson in economics. See, when Uncle Sucker prints lots of money and there are fewer things to buy, you get inflation. Prices rise. And your standard of living falls.
