Mayor-elect Eric Adams has tapped Nassau County Chief of Detectives Keechant Sewell as the first female police commissioner of the NYPD — a stunning, close-to-home pick from a field of seasoned top women cops across the country, The Post has learned.“I’m here to meet the moment,” Sewell told The Post in an exclusive interview Tuesday, just a couple of weeks before she becomes the city’s 45th top cop. At a time when the NYPD and the city its officers are sworn to protect are at a crossroads over a sharp rise in street violence and years of anti-cop reforms, her name will join the fabled ranks

Black and a woman, but is she a good police officer with a proven record that can lead a very large police force to reduce crime in the city? NYC will soon find out.

Adams can choose a toad frog, if they will enforce the law, but there is no chance of that.

Twenty-five years on the force but only 15 months in leadership over a company-size unit. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt going in. Perhaps she was chosen to deflect racial criticism from the BLM crowd if Adams decides to get tough from the get go.

What is it about black women police chiefs? It seems every major city has a black woman as police chief. Are there no qualified men (black, brown or white) in policing anymore?

Does not matter too much who is running the police department if the DA turns them all loose.

Affirmative action is alive and well. Every major city in America is led by ultra liberals and they practice Affirmative action. All of them are crime ridden disasters.

The mayor-elect passed up a chance to have a police commissioner named Outlaw.
)My school once had Patrick Murphy as a speaker. Murphy was police commissioner of NYC in the 1960s. I attended a small lunch group with him, and he bragged that he didn't carry a gun. I wanted to ask him what he would do if the restaurant was held up while he was there, but I was too polite
This new chief wants to use the broken windows approach, so no one must have told her about the no bail insanity in NY State.

Apparently black women are the only people qualified for police commissioner in America. Maybe she will crack down on crime. Oh, this is NYC. Silly me.

Maybe blacks running the city will be tougher on the blacks who are destroying it. Or maybe not. It doesn't have far to go to reach the edge of the cliff of civilization.

Two things she has in her favor:
1. Her father was in the Marine Corps.
2. She does not look like a lesbian.

Is she also part of the LGB community? It seems that every tv show that I watch nowadays that has a black woman in a leading role is a lesbian. I’m sure that’s not a true res presentation so why do they do that?

Well, Keechant’s first really big promotion in Nassau came just in September 2020 when she was promoted chief of detectives overseeing 350 people. Now? After only a little over one year, she is selected as NYC Police Commish leading over 36,000 uniformed cops. Wow.
I am not surprised. I watched the Mayor elect in his presser explaining what he would be looking for as he searched for the new NYC Police Commissioner. He listed as his first qualities - empathy and compassion. What could go wrong?
