Surprisingly little attention is being paid to a bombshell admission made by the attorneys representing the corporation formerly known as Facebook, Inc., which has now transitioned into Meta Platforms, Inc. In a court filing responding to a lawsuit filed by John Stossel claiming that he was defamed by a “fact check” Facebook used to label a video by him as “misleading,” Meta’s attorneys assert that the “fact check” was an “opinion,” not an actual check of facts and declaration of facts. That "fact check" term has always grated on me. First time I heard it was from a lib coworker during Clinton's term. One SOTU speech was, I forget what percent, fact-checked as accurate. Lib was proud of it, I'm wondering why it shouldn't all be true.

When their are social and finanvial and political consequences to an action, it is NOT an opinion. It is libel/slander, and maliscious mistepresentation. It is actionable.

I agree that there should be consequences for their behavior AGAINST their political/ideologic enemies. There wouldn't be potential penalties if they'd LABELLED their actions as 'opinion checks' instead of 'fact checks'. But now FB is trapped IMHO. If they settle, lawsuits too numerous to number will follow. At least some of these lawsuits will be won by our side.

Fact checkers are fine for checking trivial matters but I have found all have a political bias. Eg They don't just report a direct quote, they expound upon it by injecting opinions about what the speaker meant using the interpretations of selected "experts" or political opponents.

Yes, they do NOT believe in "facts". They probably don't even acknowledge that any actual, hard, immutable FACTS even exist. All things are 'pliable' to leftists. All things are subject to their leftist interpretation. Did that man murder that other man? No, no, no. That man was forced to do a necessary act of righteous retribution for all the huge numbers of unconscious micro aggressions that he was subjected to over many years. Not a murder....just the inevitable 'self defense' against all those myriad 'attacks' that went unanswered......(and which didn't really exist at all, except in the murderer's psychotic mind). See ---your video of the murder is meaningless. That is NOT a 'fact', it is just an opinion, to "right thinking" leftists and extreme racists.

Power struggle: The White House bid to

Kamala Harris doesn't actually do anything in her job, and maybe that's more than just her laziness. Actually, with her miserable performance, and her poll numbers bottoming even Joe Biden's, she seems to be in the throes of a power struggle with the White House to hold onto her job. (snip) Harris of course is brimming with resentments, as she's indicated in her office's leaked complaints about White House racial and sexist favoritism toward Biden's transportation secretary, Pete Buttigieg, the only man known whose public approval ratings are below Kamala's.

The Democrats aren’t even pretending anymore that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris like each other. Each sees the other as an enemy, although neither can do without the other. (snip) I saw the video showing the little teen-queen drama that Biden and Harris enacted at Dole’s memorial service. (snip) Biden’s and Harris’s conspicuous “I’m not talking to you!” moment was bad enough. It got worse after that. Biden, agitated, whispered something to his wife. She whispered back. Then, more agitated, he whispered again to her—at which point Biden and the missus changed sides so that Biden didn’t have to stand next to his Vice President.

Yes, Joe Biden is far and away the worst president in the history of the United States. However, the four-year Trump interlude between Obama and Biden gave the U.S. at least a little resiliency to stand against Biden’s hard-left administration. Imagine how much worse things would have been if Hillary had immediately stepped into Obama’s shoes. America wouldn’t have stood a chance. And lest you forget just what a horrible human being Hillary was, she just gave us a reminder as she spoke with Today’s Willie Geist about her decision to read her “victory speech” aloud for a MasterClass.

Monday morning, as I did my morning bicycle ride (I live in a safe neighborhood), I listened to Breitbart News host Alex Marlowe interview John Nolte, another Breitbart personality about COVID vaccination hesitancy. By the end of the interview, they’d wandered through several logical fallacies that need to be exposed so people can accurately balance vaccines versus treatments. Marlowe and Nolte quoted data purporting to show that Washington state counties that Trump won have much higher COVID death rates than counties that Biden won. Vaccination rates are blamed for the difference.

Will Thomas is a strapping 22-year-old man who swam competitively at the University of Pennsylvania for three years. Frankly, I think it’s wonderful. That’s not because I’ve gone woke; it’s because this is so blatantly unfair to women, and Will is so obviously a man, that Americans are finally saying that the emperor is wearing the wrong dress.

President Biden has signed a series of executive orders to make the federal government carbon neutral. The Democrat president on Wednesday ordered federal agencies to purchase electric vehicles, harness wind, solar, and nuclear energy to power facilities, and to use sustainable building materials. The goal is for the federal government to stop adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by 2050. In the next decade, Biden wants the government to cease purchasing electricity produced from sources that emit carbon dioxide. By 2035, the administration wants all new federal cars and truck purchases to be zero-emissions. Right now, only about 1.5% of the government fleet is electric vehicles.

The court ruled Friday that a lawsuit by abortion providers in Texas can move forward but left the ban on abortions after about six weeks in place as challenges are being litigated. The high court punted the law's legality. Its action today sends the case by abortion providers back to a district court, which could lead to it being suspended.
