SiriusXM radio host Michael Smerconish is slated to temporarily replace Chris Cuomo on CNN's primetime slot next week, according to Variety. A former Republican who is now a registered Independent, Smerconish has hosted a variety of programs across news mediums, including "The Michael Smerconish Program," a SiriusXM daily talk-radio program, and "Smerconish," a weekly Saturday TV program on CNN, according to his biography. He has also authored seven books, two of which are New York Times bestsellers. Smerconish launched his career in politics at a young age and was appointed at age 29 to serve in the Department of Housing

FTA: ~~ "He publicly broke with the Republican party to endorse Barack Obama, citing the party's failure to capture al-Qaeda leaders Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri following 9/11." ~~

Sounds like an idiot. Anyone who knows anything about the hunt for Bin Laden would know that it was a program that Bush authorized which eventually located UBL. This clown probably supports FJB who opposed taking UBL out.
CNN ratings will continue to suck.

Different face but some old liberal, commie, bs, progressive slobber coming out of his mouth promoted by the msm knuckleheads. Don't let the "independent" moniker fool you.

And of course al-Zawahiri is still free.

He used to be on the radio. A John Kasich-type. CNN must think this will appeal to “conservatives.”

While sitting at an airport gate waiting for my departing flight, easy to notice on the tv that Smercie is a clown and his show is a clown show. Nothing gained here.

So - - an "independent" communist.
How different is that from a radical communist or a moderate communist? These distinctions are very important.

They'll be lucky to achieve the low ratings Fredo Cuomo "achieved...." you know. 80% drop in one year to third place on cable news to third place in cable news. Now,, if they had hired Mark Steyn (who probably wouldn't take the job), they might have done better.

I used to alternate between him and David Webb on SiriusXM when I found myself driving during the 9:00-noon ET timeslot. I occasionally liked his take on cultural topics (music, books, movies, etc.) but he was definitely left of center on political issues. However, it was easier listening to him to get a bearing on what the left was up to than the real crazies like those on the "urban" channels or the progressive channel.
I gave all that up with the XM radio subscription when I retired. I do miss Andrew Wilcow though... ;-)

You can safely bet that this new guy is 100% anti-Trump or CNN would not have let him in their building!

#12 - I doubt that anyone herein listened to El Rushbo more than me. (Hint - look at my nym)
I seriously doubt that this character ever graced those hallowed halls. He "may" have been interviewed or had quotes referred. But again, I don't think so. At my age, I could stand to be corrected. Anyone?

Some years back, I attended a local Chamber of Commerce luncheon and was seated at a table with Smerconish. Suffice it to say that I was not impressed with him.
HE, on the other hand...

Went to highschool with him. Not impressed. Comes form a real estate family and if I remember right not too long after high school he got in a bit of Hot water as a slum lord in Philadelphia. He was "sentenced" to live in one of his rat infested crudholes for 60 days or something like that.
He started out on the right, used to show up with Hannity once in a while but has drifted farther and farther over to the left. Not on our side anymore at all.

He was in Boston for a spell and was unlistenable.
Cnn has replaced the unwatchable with the unlistenable.
