Advocates push nationwide movement for
land return to Blacks after victory in California

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. — A Black family’s successful fight to reclaim a picturesque stretch of Southern California shoreline has ignited a national movement, with activists eyeing White-owned properties around the country they say rightfully belong to African Americans. A landmark law signed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Sept. 30 provided for a seaside park in Manhattan Beach to be returned to the Bruce family, which owned the land before the city used eminent domain to seize it in 1924. The victory was hailed as a watershed moment, the first example of Black people forcing the return of property

How far back shall we go? The Clovis People may have first dibs on the land.

Black has nothing to do with it. The highly unethical use of eminent domain by evil bureaucrats all over the country going back for generations should be stopped immediately and ALL previously criminal uses of eminent domain should be canceled and the land returned to the original owners or their descendants if they're no longer alive.

Eminent domain was used in the city for a retainer basin. It’s used all over the country.

5, ok, sure, whatever. 6, the abuse of eminent domain has been ongoing since it was first used in this country. There are countless times and places where land was appropriated at cut rate prices and then either went unused for the purpose it was stolen by force by the government or used for something else entirely such as be given at below market rates or even free to someone's businessman cousin for their corporate projects. I understand what you're getting at with how the Marxist trash have been destroying everything they touch in this country but this is a serious issue for anyone and everyone who owns anything. What is eminent domain if not communism?

Ditto #7 The issue isn't one of reparations. The same should result if the previous land owner was white. It wasn't white supremacists who seized the land. it was the government.

This was not the “seizure” of a single property. Never mentioned in these stories is the inconvenient fact that dozens of neighboring parcels, mostly white-owned, were part of the same eminent domain action. Also never mentioned is that property owners have a right to a jury trial to determine “fair market value.”

In order to keep land, one must pay taxes on it, I hope they enjoy their short stay. What do black people do on a beach anyway? What about all of the siezed land that is now part of an interstate highway system or a railroad, a huge shopping mall? Before black people set foot here, it all belonged to "Red" people. Let's go back a little further.

Do these cretins even grasp the concept of Eminent Domain? Legally, everyone who lost property that the government needed to build infrastructure on would have been compensated. Not the fault of the government or taxpayers if those ancestors spent all the money. If the government back then did not follow the constitution when it came to compensation, then these folks might have a case. But I doubt it very much.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Forget speeding tickets — California truck drivers will soon have to watch out for pollution tickets. State regulators on Thursday voted to crack down on heavy duty trucks weighing more than 14,000 pounds (6,350 kilograms) — those big semi-trailers that make up just 3% of all vehicles in California but spend so much time on the road they account for more than half of all pollution from cars and trucks each year. New rules will require these big trucks, including ones from other states passing through Califonria — to be tested at least four times per year to make sure they

The effort is designed to keep landfills in the most populous U.S. state clear of food waste that damages the atmosphere as it decays.
