MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle is taking Dollar Tree to task over its shocking announcement that the company was increasing its famously cheap prices.
Dollar Tree confirmed this week it is charging $1.25 for the majority of its products at all of its locations nationwide by the end of April. "For 35 years, Dollar Tree has managed through inflationary periods to maintain the everything-for-one-dollar philosophy that distinguished Dollar Tree and made it one of the most successful retail concepts for three decades," the company said in a press release on Tuesday.

First of all, like she’s ever set foot in a Dollar Tree in her life or run any kind of business. Second, they’ve got their marching orders from the Politburo: There is no inflation and if there is it’s evil Capitalist greed. These are are the clowns the communists kill first after taking complete power.

I bet she expects a big pay raise for herself every year - although she does not need (or deserve) it.

Has she even thought about opening a business and finding out, first hand, how pricing works?
I bet not.

These stores, headquartered here, are filled with Chinese junk, too. Nothing says inflation better than “everything’s a dollar and a quarter.”

I am old enough to remember 5 and dimes, where everything cost 5 or 10 cents. Jimmy Carter inflation pretty much killed those off.

there has to be a reckoning for MSDNC for their many years of spreading disinformation and lies about many issues that have risen in our country but, first let's make them poor, very poor.

Another person from a channel that I have never watched, which, based on postings here, is entirely populated by the most brainwashed, ignorant, obnoxiously arrogant fools ever gathered in one place.
She has clearly not the slightest grasp of business or economics, but she does have a big, ignorant mouth.
Paying attention to these fools is just wasted time.

These are the same sorts of people who want businesses to pay a “living wage.” How do businesses pay higher wages unless they raise prices. Health care costs have risen greatly. Gas has gone up.
Screw these idiots!

One of the secrets of their success is to sell lots of products that would normally sell for 50 cents or less at a dollar.
Genius!

According to www.wealthypersons.com, Ruhle's net worth is $6 million. So using leftist logic, she doesn't "need" her reported salary of $200,000, she's already wealthy enough.

Right. There has been no inflation, so Motel 6 should still rent rooms for $6 per night. Is this harridan related to Elizabeth Warren?

Lady, when the semi-trucks transporting this stuff to the store from the distribution warehouse have to pay over $3 a gallon for fuel, the stuff in the truck goes up in price to cover the added cost of the fuel.

I doubt that anyone at MSNBC has a notion about how a free market is supposed to work. The merchant sets the prices. Period. The customers may buy or not. Period.

MSNBC is proof of the "Hermit Crab Wit Theorem" :
When you put two halfwits together, you don't get a full wit, you get a quarter wit It is multiplicative, not additive. Three halfwits together = 1/8th wit etc.
Given all the halfwits that work at MSNBC, the total wittery is approaching 0.0.

I go to Dollar Tree for reading glasses. They don't look bad, they work fine for a few months and then the frame breaks. But I can buy them by the hand full, leave them all over the house and office and never worry about losing them!

In my best imitation of Dan Akroyd... Stephanie, you ignorant slut. The right to make decisions resides with the business owner(s). Your opinion about what a business needs will begin to matter when you purchase for yourself an ownership share. And for the millionth time, money does not grow on trees. Even at places called "Dollar Tree."

Will Stephanie Rule be negotiating a salary increase with her employer when her present contract is up?
My bet it YES. This pompous ass (apparently the only kind of people MSNBC employs) has already told us that WE had enough money to offset inflation. So someone else seeking to remain solvent is a problem for her, but bet that her salary will rise. The only way to show your disdain for these types of idiotic celebrities is to STOP WATCHING THEM.

Some people have called this mindset detached, but I disagree. It's ignorance. It's a fundamental lack of understanding of how markets work. It's scary how uninformed and idiotic some our "journalists" are.
