Turns out There Was More Behind That 'Never
Trumpers Quit Fox Over Tucker' Story

Original Article

As we reported, Never Trump commentators Stephen Hayes and Jonah Goldberg announced this week that they were leaving Fox as contributors because of Tucker Carlson’s Jan. 6 special. Many laughed at the pomposity of their announcement, with some noting they didn’t even know they still were working there. Who would really notice or care if they were gone? The two ran to the NY Times to make their announcement, which shows exactly where their minds are at and to whom they are trying to cater. Hint: it’s not Republicans or conservatives. The same people who fall for their nonsense were all agog over their announcement and ‘character.’

Comments:

Well, I'll be darned. Fox News wasn't planning on renewing them anyway, so they ran to the leftwing media. Sure Steve and Jonah, you're really conservative.

I never believed the sins of the father/mother should fall on the children and vice versa. Given the political bent of this site and my gratitude towards Lucianne and her staff for keeping it up and running, it is ungentlemanly to speak ill of her son on this board. That is merely a courtesy.

I used to really admire Jonah and loved his thoughtful commentary. However, something about Trump's election seemed to drive him around the bend. I still think he's a good writer, just misguided. If he ever regains his perspective, I'll enjoy reading him again. Until then, I'll mourn his loss to the conservative commentariat.

#6, I think it's they don't know the true story about how they were used by the Left to push that false Russian story. Many mainstream Republicans didn't seem to know either, it seems. Many may still not be aware of the Durham findings, or have dismissed the Mueller Report finding no collusion. The real problem was President Trump truly wanted to fix things not just talk about them, or grow a government program to make it seem they were "doing something". It's why Kamala couldn't go to the border, there was no option for expanding a government program that would also produce some tangible results. So, better to simply leave those people to deal with the smugglers and hope they are grateful to the democrats after they've arrived. Many still think President Trump "lies about everything", but they can't actually site him lying about anything. They don't like how direct he is, and calls people out for not doing what they said they would do, and they don't like it.

A real shame....I liked them both but noted that since they became virulent anti Trumpers (and Trump is furious with Fox for calling Arizona, etc. so Fox is NOT a rabid Fox supporter) they have showed up much less......Jonah lasted longer than Steve but.......... I just hope they don't go the Nicole Wallace route and sign with CNN, MSNBC etc. They THINK they will be given. free reign to comment as they see fit, but the reality is that, as with Wallace, you go along to get along....and get $$$$.

I'm torn, much like #s 2, 5, and 6 (and probably others, by the time I finish this short thought). I remember the insightful and articulate commentary that we saw from Jonah before Trump's candidacy somehow preoccupied him with this virulent NeverTrumpism, which, I believe, has drowned out the real Jonah. I still miss the real Jonah, and I pray that God's mercy may redeem him, console his mother, and reconcile us all to Himself.

I'm one of the people that thought Goldberg and Hayes were long gone, since I hadn't seen them on Fox since 2017. I'm still puzzled by what happened to Goldberg. He and the other NR guys preached for years about getting a candidate who would stand up to the left-wingers and Communists; then, when they had one - Trump - they snarked on him every chance they got. Goldberg's columns went steadily downhill from 2016 on. Now, they both ran off to the biggest left-wing rag of all to climb on their high horses about severing ties with Fox, when it turns out they were going to be let go anyway. I guess they were cruise ship RINOs all along.

Reminds me of Jason Collins, who came out as gay at the end of his journeyman NBA career. It was apparent that he wasn’t going to get another NBA contract, which made his announcement look like a cynical ploy to ~get~ another offer, as well as a pretext for claiming bigotry if it still didn’t happen. I used to like Jonah Goldberg—now I pretty much put him in the same mercenary category as David Brock.

At least 16 U.S. cities have set new homicide records in 2021, according to local police departments. It's a trend police departments have noted from East Coast to West, even as other violent crimes such as aggravated assault and non-violent crimes such as burglary decline in the same areas. "It's definitely worse this year, for us at least," Rochester Police Department Public Information Officer Carlos Alvarado told Fox News Digital of the upstate New York city's homicide numbers for 2021. Rochester had seen a record 80 homicide deaths in 2021 as of Tuesday. The city's previous record was 69 in 1991, Alvarado said,

With a massive build of Russian troops near Ukraine’s border, Russia’s Vladimir Putin is indicating a willingness to risk a military conflict, but analysts say while the threat is serious, an invasion is not certain. The threat of an invasion will be the central subject of President Biden’s video call with Putin on Tuesday. Biden is expected to warn of dire consequences should Russia follow through with a military offensive, while Putin is expected to reiterate his ultimatum that NATO should not allow Ukraine to join its military alliance. The outcome of the video call could have major implications as Putin weighs the potential costs of a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine.
