Tucker Burst Out Laughing at What Edward

New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney was ousted by Edward Durr, a little known Republican candidate who spent next to nothing on his campaign. For a bit, Sweeney held out hope that once all the legal votes were counted, he’d beat the commercial truck driver, but that didn’t pan out and he conceded this week. During an interview with Durr, Fox News’s Tucker Carlson asked if he has actually spoken to Sweeney since the election results came out. “Have you talked to Sweeney since you dethroned him? I mean, how baffled is he?” Carlson wondered.

Comments:

We need more people like Ed Durr running for office. Normal, regular folks. If you've got $153 to spare, give it some thought.

Made me bust out laughing, too. Congratulations to Durr, and tip of the hat to Sweeny for resisting the temptation to pull the ballot-harvesting cheat that his party has made habitual.

Are we sure this time? Every day the win changes. Almost literally. First the trucker won, next day Sweeney won, and this has literally gone on for two weeks. I'm glad the trucker won. Now he needs to be extra cautious because the buzzards from Sweeney's term are still there. Hopefully he has someone to help guide him. Good luck to him.

The Kyle Rittenhouse Prosecutor’s Case
Comes Down To Rioting Good, Self-Defense Bad

If you follow the prosecution’s case against Kyle Rittenhouse, the only logical end is the assertion that self-defense is almost never an option and visiting the scene of a riot is only okay if you are there to burn property. There are other facets to lead prosecutor Thomas Binger’s arguments — that Rittenhouse, 18, was in illegal possession of a gun, that he showed up in Kenosha, Wis., that night of violent rioting because he was pursuing danger, and that he could have easily done things differently.

This year has seen the largest increase ever in the number of concealed handgun permit holders—more than two million, for a total of 21.52 million. That is a 48 percent increase since 2016. On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard the case of NYSRPA v. Bruen, which has a chance to further increase this total and make permitting rules more similar across states. Six states now have more than 1 million permit holders: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Florida is the first state to have more than 2.5 million permits.

Leah has covered this New Jersey race extensively. It’s a state senate seat so it doesn’t get much attention but if you live in the Garden State, this is a huge upset. This is the New York Giants beating the Patriots in Super Bowl 42. New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney appears to have been beaten by a no-name Republican Edward Durr, who spent less than $100 to beat Sweeney. I’m deducting the $67 he spent at Dunkin’ Donuts. I’ve lived in New Jersey for most of my life. Sweeney owns South Jersey. He’s the labor union's top guy there.

Reading the recent column by fellow Blue State Conservative contributor John Eidson got me to thinking about educational experiences of my own. It’s always a good column when it makes one think. Reading it, there was a vivid memory of when I was working at a regional campus of The Ohio State University as an academic advisor. I met with a just-admitted young black woman from Cleveland, OH. I was looking forward to meeting her after having reviewed her high school transcript. It was all A’s and B’s with other indicators of academic excellence. At least, that was what the transcript showed.

In the spring of 2021 during my first year at the U.S. Military Academy, I was told that my decision to reject getting the “optional” COVID-19 vaccine would not negatively affect my time as a cadet at West Point. That quickly changed. My Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act medical privacy rights were violated when my vaccination status was released to members of the freshman class and upperclassmen who were planning our summer details, to which an officer stated, “HIPAA isn’t the be-all, end-all.”

Sen. Chuck Grassley said Attorney General Merrick Garland’s stubborn refusal to retract the “domestic terrorism” memo authorizing federal law enforcement to target frustrated parents who speak out against local school boards will have a “chilling effect” on parents’ willingness to hold their children’s education system accountable. In a Senate floor speech delivered on Monday, the Iowa Republican explained how Garland made an “extraordinary” admission that he “instructed the FBI to get involved with local school boards” and doesn’t have any plans of rescinding his memo directing that action.

Alabama Republican Gov. Kay Ivey is blocking efforts in her state to pass an across-the-board ban for coronavirus vaccine mandates. As lawmakers convened for a week-long special session on redistricting Thursday, several demanded the governor add vaccine mandate protections to the agenda. The pressure comes as businesses with 100 employees or more prepare to follow a federal mandate handed down by President Joe Biden in the form of a press release.

Virginia’s gubernatorial race is seen as a national bellwether. With the most recent polls showing Republican Glenn Youngkin, a former underdog, tied with his Democrat rival Terry McAuliffe, the outcome of the Nov. 2, 2021 election seems sure to rest on the smallest of margins. The more important trend for Americans to consider, however, lies not in the tight election, nor even in the party affiliation of the eventual victor, but on efforts by local election officials to violate state law to profit their preferred candidate.

Reps Liz Cheney (RINO-WY) and Bennie Thompson (D-MS) are seeking criminal charges on Trump’s former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows after he failed to appear before their sham January 6 Committee. The Marxists on the January 6 Committee issued Meadows a subpoena because he was with Trump on January 6. Meadows, like Bannon, defied the subpoena and was instructed by Trump to “respect long-standing principles of executive privilege.” “Mr. Meadows’s actions today—choosing to defy the law—will force the Select Committee to consider pursuing contempt or other proceedings to enforce the subpoena,” Thompson and Cheney, vice chair of the sham panel, said in a statement Friday.
