Even though the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage on, nearly three-quarters of Americans (74 percent) now say their lives have returned to “normal,” according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll. It’s a number that underscores both the progress made possible by safe and effective vaccines and the challenges ahead as the holidays approach and yet another winter wave gets underway in the United States. The survey of 1,696 adults, which was conducted from Nov. 17 to 19, found that only 15 percent say that things “never stopped being normal” for them — a reminder of just how profoundly the virus

Comments:

Unless you or a close family member is sick, it should be life-as-normal. The article goes on to warn about a return to nornal.

Normal begins when store clerks stop reminding customers to wear a mask, and children are not mandatorialy vaccinated for something that has only the remotest chance of affecting them.

We never let them turn our lives upside down. Initially, six weeks closed restaurants. Then open and we went back to two to three times a week eating out with friends. That has continued for about 18 months. We picked up some ivermectin and doxycycline and other drugs for early treatment recommended by a friendly, sane doctor, so far held in reserve. My sister is hiding under her bed, and that's where the family has gathered for Thanksgiving in recent years....she cancelled. Turkey day at our cabin in Colorado mountains this year, just watched a herd of elk graze by. We travel in the USA where we want to, when we want to, had to cancel a vacation in England and Scotland last year, couldn't reschedule this year, either, so to hell with those fools. Travel inside the USA, has some minor inconveniences like a lot of restaurants and fast food have no dine in or short hours, we insist on sit down dining, will NOT take out and eat in our laps. We call ahead, and work things out. Just thinking about an old sign my father had in the 1950s. "Illegitimi non carborundum"........faux Latin for "don't let the bastards grind you down". We take it to heart. Scroom. Can't fire me, I'm retired, can't make me get The Shot. Just drop dead, all you idiots.

What happened to the surge from all the unmasked football fans. Fauci, you fraud, you pushed a lot of people too far so you have discredited yourself. The damage you have caused the future generations is horrendous. Why this fixation on vaccines (the shot isn’t even a vaccine). You’re a certifiable quack.

I live in a state where it's pretty much normal. Recently traveled to PA where I saw people wearing masks into a coffee shop, take them off to eat, then dutifully put them back on to leave Just kind of jarring to me that people are still doing that because I don't see it where I live. Everyone I talked to was vaxxed but they have a problem with the mandated part. These include Trumpian patriots.

The vaccine is neither safe nor effective! More people are dying from the clot shot than the Wuhan flu. Also, vaccinated people are more likely to get infected than unvaccinated.

I've never worn a mask. Most people around here slowly stopped using them. Then Fauci said the flu was starting to come back and boom, saw lots of masked people again. I honestly think some people like wearing them. As for the shot, law suits are the way to go. No one can force someone else to take a shot that is not properly tested and obviously not working. I also think the sudden boom in flu cases are the hundreds of thousands who are here illegally and untested.

Around here Blacks wear masks everywhere, even in their cars driving alone. Why? Several stores have a sign "Masks required to shop here", I go in unmasked, no one says a word. Saw an acquaintance in WalMart, wearing a mask. She asked how I have been doing, Fine I say. She said "You're not wearing a mask, are you vaccinated?" No I say and I plan to stay that way. "And you're healthy?" Never better, I say. Some people drink the Kool-Aid.

Old and retired is the way we are. When this all started my wife did all the grocery shopping, I was cripple at home waiting for surgery which was backlogged by covid so I was immobile. The biggest inconvenience was shortage of goods in the grocery store. We stayed home, cooked outside and stayed on our patio. Simple life plus we didn't travel in the cars so gasoline prices weren't a problem while I feel bad for people like my children that have to work and travel. Let's just say we are continuing social distancing and will enjoy our quaint, quiet Thanksgiving like all our meals have been. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone stay strong and un-vaxxed, resist.

#8 Your comment is hyperbole, not factual. My husband and I are retired. We've had the vaccines (no side effects) but we are against mandates. We believe each person should have the freedom to do what is right for themselves. We are cautious but not fearful, going out for meals and continuing to do the things we've always done. Things had pretty much gone back to normal, but now our state has the highest rate of infections, so we have gone back to wearing masks on occasion. When it comes to COVID, we all just need to give each other the freedom and grace to follow our own hearts, without mockery or criticism.

I don't find this believable. Millions of people were forced to take the vaccine against their will or face losing their job. They will be facing that choice again with the booster. It will probably happen again many times in the future if the pharmaceuticals cannot get their act together. The fear mongering will continue. The shortages will continue because they are indirectly related to the kneejerk reactions our government is taking. it is probably indirectly connected to inflation as well since there are shortages. This is far from over.

"Because of the actions we've taken, things have begun to change. End of quote," Biden said without pause. Biden did not appear to notice the minor gaffe, continuing to elaborate on people's concerns regarding inflation and gas prices.

The trial of the three men accused of slaying Ahmaud Arbery has Black Americans walking on pins and needles once again. Whatever the jury decides, I’m afraid, will fail to address a damming question that the tragic incident symbolizes: How can Black people ever be secure in America? First, he speaks fluently, without the “like” and “you know” fillers that most young people use. It seems, though, that Rittenhouse really just speaks well.
