Longtime U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Dallas, announced Saturday she is not running for reelection after serving nearly three decades in Congress. “I have gone back and forth … the whole time because of the pleading and the asking, but as of January … the year after next, I will step down,” Johnson said during an event in Dallas. "I will retire, and let me assure that I will also recommend to you whom I feel is the best to follow me." Johnson added she is looking for a "female that is qualified." First elected to Congress in 1992, Johnson

Too bad the reporter couldn't say the obvious - that the congressional district is one of them racial set-aside districts.

I wonder if the R's can find a conservative black veteran that can turn that seat? Or at least make it interesting. If R's hit dims with illegals taking your jobs, which is true, who knows?

The slight uptick in Congressional IQ will only last until her replacement is sworn in.

FTA: "As much as we trash the names of some of the Republicans. they were some of the same ones that helped me be successful."
I'm sure old Eddie did her best to repay the debt, helping a few Republicans be successful? No?

Well, this makes it official. The U.S. Government must be out of money now with the Build Back Better plan passing. Bernice sees the future and knows there's nothing left to steal.

She was/is not a big fan of CRT.
"Johnson fears the legacy that discrimination leaves for youth. "I am frightened to see young people who believe that a racist power structure is responsible for every negative thing that happens to them," she told the New York Times. "After a point it does not matter whether these perceptions are true or false; it is the perceptions that matter."
She got caught several years ago trying to send 15 "Congressional Black Caucus" Scholarships to immediate family and the family of her district director...even tried to have the checks sent straight to them rather than to the schools.
She also backed Edwards over Obama, until Edwards finally dropped out.

I am so sick of these career politicians who finally hang it up and expect accolades and praise for their civil "service." I contend that any one of them - regardless of Party -- -would be shamed in front of the Founding Fathers.

And her net worth upon retiring as a "public servant" is what? Don't bother, it is a rhetorical question.

It will be good riddance. I notice none of these jerks announce retirement until after they've voted to destroy the country.

Good riddance to this past-your-useful-date professional tick. Thirty years in congress. What a disgusting distinction. We should never, ever celebrate longevity in government. We should celebrate those who go to serve as citizens serving their fellow man by coming and going. They are the real representative heroes, not a parasite like this one. And that goes for ANY representative, regardless of party or philosophy.
