CONCORD, Calif. - A diamond jewelry store in the East Bay has been cleaned out after video shows thieves breaking into the shop, smashing glass cases with hammers and stealing nearly everything. Witnesses and employees at Iceberg Diamonds in Sun Valley Mall in Concord said they were scared when the smash-and-grab occurred Monday about 7:30 p.m., 90 minutes before closing. At first, they thought it was gunfire. But it was actually the sound of hammers smashing glass. Concord police released six seconds of surveillance video inside the store, showing men in hoodies smashing the glass case. All the men wore
Just look upon this as reparations to the ferals...

I wonder if they only took items priced at $950 or less.

DEFUND THE POLICE!
It all makes sense to me now.
When is someone going to pick up a weapon and stop this nonsense? I know this is Cali, but good grief. If you would have come into my business like this, I would have called the cops and then their families to come to pick up their trash.
Here in the UP of Michigan, this is called, "thinning the herd."

Masks have been a boon to criminals everywhere.
Any place with high priced inventory that does not have armed security is a target now. Not very many pawn shops experience smash and grabs.

I would take out a lawsuit against the city for not protecting the business. . .

This wouldn't be happening if people were allowed to use deadly force to defend themselves to protect their property. (as in Texas, Florida, and others)

I haven’t read of any hoodies smashing and grabbing at gun stores. Hmmm.

When are they going to wise up and make it illegal for the Amish to buy hoodies?

Were there no guns to be had... The fear came from reprisals from the FBI and the DA for defending yourself and property... To quote Charlton Heston in the Planet of the Apes... "IT'S A MADHOUSE!!

Scratch one jewelry store from the Sun Valley Mall.
Years ago, I worked in a major city just down the street from an upscale jewelry store. A punk came in and tried to rob the store. An employee pulled a gun and shot the punk who staggered around the corner, bled out and died before the police arrived. After that, the store installed a locked door and customers had to be buzzed in. The employees had no qualms about waving away "youths" and other questionable customers. That's what jewelry stores will end up doing - refusing to let just anyone in, limiting the number of people inside at one time, and maybe even showing their stock by appointment only.
If the mall won't agree to let store owners install reasonable security, they'll lose upscale stores in a hurry.

Having a serious retail business in the SanFran area is no longer practical. More and more will be closing or moving away.

Re #5. Such lawsuits have been filed and adjudicated in far more egreggious cases than this one and the result is always "the police have no duty to protect any individual person, they only provide a general service to prevent crime and arrest criminals. Failure to protect is not a liability for police."
More than a few cases ajudicated, and many involve extreme incompetence on the part of the particular police officers, often leading to death or extended torture of people....not just monetary losses. Not a useful legal strategy in our system.

What a sh14whole Cali has become. The oligarchs running things in Sacramento want this kind of mayhem for the whole State. The Golden State passed over to the Sh14 State a long time ago.

I thought that jewelry stores moved all of their inventory into a vault whenever the store was closed for the day. Leaving it in glass cases was pretty stupid. That said, the robbers should pay an extreme price.

Remember when "Hammer Time" was just a fun hip-hop hit from the East Bay? While I wasn't much of a fan of that stuff, it was far preferable to this bee ess.
