After a battle over the ballot, early voting begins Friday in Minneapolis. Residents will get to vote on the ballot question on whether to replace the Minneapolis Police Department with a new department of public safety. The Minnesota Supreme Court reversed a decision blocking the city from counting votes on the question. The question on the ballot, to which voters respond "yes" or "no," is as follows:

Comments:

this is a SOROS backed attempt at taking over a major city by using $500.000 of his money to vote to get rid of police.. should work because of all the illegal votes combined with the ABSOLUTE vague language in the proposal..

OP, Vague? FTA: shall the Minneapolis City Charter be amended to remove the Police Department and replace it with a Department of Public Safety.... I hope they pass this amendment, if they do I can see most business closing shop and the governor of MN having to send in the National Guard within a month.... If it loses by a big margin I guess we can call the defund the police movement dead. Either way it way in the long run this will be a win. 4 guys with semi-automatic weapons are robbing a bank... quick call Department of Public Safety and let's talk them out of it.

In Texas, the state Highway Patrol and the Texas Rangers are part of a state Department of Public Safety, an outfit that does not comprise an abundance of social workers. The department where I got my start in law enforcement was also Department of Public Safety, which meant that each officer was required to be trained and certified as a Texas Peace Officer, Firefighter, and EMT or Paramedic. Regardless of one's primary assignment (police fire or EMS), the cross training and certification served to reduce the total number of officers required to provide law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services for the citizens within its jurisdiction. It saved money and provided a high quality of officer, since the type of folks willing to go into a burning building were less likely to be accused or guilty of using excessive force in their police duties. Minneapolis may not get the result the lawless anarchists are pushing, depending on how the city and/or state defines Public Safety.

If they ban the police department, they had better get ready for property insurers leaving the state the next day.

I think we should have "continuous voting" Why just a week or two before the election. Let's vote every day all day. Then, for sure, they cannot call it deny-the-vote.
