Afghan special forces could join the British Army as part of a new regiment being considered by UK MPs, the Telegraph reported. Hundreds of the Afghan commandos who've arrived in the UK over the past few weeks have been trained by UK troops in Afghanistan. Ministers are considering the proposal to employ the soldiers. The arrangement would be similar to the Gurkhas — soldiers from Nepal who are recruited into the British army — the Telegraph reported. Afghan Foreign Legion? Go for it. Drop em in there at night and let them do some mischief. Got to be some Afghan Rebels out there somewhere that sort of got used to 20 years of freedom and might want to join in.

Better be real good as the Gurkas and the SAS are the cream of the crop in the British Army.

Our Special Forces do a similar thing but we leave them in their home countries when we are done with them. They then must live with the quality of their work and don't have the opportunity to become spies. The Biden admin is going the Brits one better, he's bringing in thousands of Afghanis with no skills whatsoever, unless you count growing opium poppies and herding goats.

The Gurkhas were a very renowned and effective fighting force for the British. If these Afghans are half as good, and who knows if they will reach even that high, they'd be pretty good.

They may consider it but in the end it will not work out because as Afghan soldiers in that new regiment either get out of the Army or retire there would be no way to replace them with new reliable Afghan soldiers. The Taliban is not going to allow young Afghans to leave Afghanistan to join the British Army. Besides Afghanistan is being stripped of its educated classes of people who live mostly in Kabul, so any prospective recruits coming out of Afghanistan will not be English speakers and with not be able to read or write. You can’t compare the Afghans to the Gurkha soldiers from Nepal who have served in the British Army for over 200 years. Every year the British Gurkha regiments have several hundred vacancies to fill as solders leave or retire. That recruitment takes place in Nepal where well over 20,000 Nepalese educated Gurkhas compete each year to get accepted to fill the hundreds of vacancies in the British Gurkha regiments. Many of the newly accepted Gurkhas have had several generations in their families who have served in the British Army. Nepal and the UK have a unique history in that respect.

The reporting on Biden's retreat in Afghanistan is fascinating because probably for the first time since the Clinton administration, the media was providing fairly accurate coverage of a disaster by a Democrat president. Or at least parts of the media were doing their actual job. “The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns,” Ben Rhodes had famously gloated to the New York Times. (Snip) But the rout in Kabul plugged in foreign correspondents, some of whom are pathetically ignorant, but some who were doing this for a long time, who held prestige positions reporting from abroad, and actually did
Cui Bono? Who Benefits From the Afghanistan Withdrawal? 6 replies

How does a leader decide what to do? The most logical response is: “Cui bono?”—”Who benefits?”—from the decision. If some policy benefits your country most, you should, within moral bounds, pursue it. If your enemies benefit most, you should avoid it. I’d be curious to learn what answer proponents of America leaving Afghanistan—conservative or liberal—would give to the question, “Cui bono?” I can say that until this moment, I have not read or heard a single cogent argument from proponents of American withdrawal as to how exactly it benefits America.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the American people have been told to “follow the science.” Yet for a year and a half, they’ve heard contradicting messages from self-appointed prophets of “the science” like Dr. Anthony Fauci and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We learned that politicians who claimed their decisions were science-driven often ignored scientific findings that didn’t fit certain political narratives. We discovered that scientists are fallible human beings, and some would let personal interests and political views cloud their judgment. Is science itself one of the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic? I asked Dr. Scott Atlas at the 13th annual Freedom Conference

California’s gubernatorial recall election is officially September 14, but “Election Day” has ceased to have any meaning, Mail-in ballots were automatically sent to every registered voter on August 16. Return postage is “free,” pre-paid by California taxpayers. The registration deadline was August 30, but you can still register to vote “conditionally” and cast your vote immediately, right up to and including on the 14th. Mail ballots do not have to be received by “Election Day.” Ballots received up through September 21, a week after the election, will still count. Which gives the people in power plenty of time to correct any “mistakes”

A study of 800,000 people in Israel has found that natural immunity in people who have recovered from an earlier COVID-19 infection is vastly superior to the immunity acquired by vaccination using two of the major vaccines in use. The conclusion: This analysis demonstrated that natural immunity affords longer lasting and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic disease and hospitalization due to the delta variant. Bloomberg summarizes: People who recovered from a bout of Covid-19 during one of the earlier waves of the pandemic appear to have a lower risk of contracting the delta variant than those who got two doses of the vaccine from Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE.

Ohio Senate candidate and author J.D. Vance has spoken out against the importation of tens of thousands of Afghan refugees in the wake of the United States’ disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Vance recently appeared on Steve Cortes and Jenn Pellegrino’s Newsmax TV program to discuss the issue. “I really think people are radically underappreciating what this means,” he said. “60,000 Afghan refugees completely unvetted, you’re going to get a lot of bad people in that group.” Vance added that the United States’ permitting of chain migration could significantly boost that figure. “Those 60,000 people could eventually lead to four or five per refugee. So 60,000 could become 400,000 really quickly.

Either Joe Biden, his advisors, and our military are woefully ill-informed, or they are purposefully lying to the public about the situation on the ground in Afghanistan. Either way, Americans of all political views should be aghast. First, the fact that the administration has told U.S. citizens to leave the Kabul airport and “shelter in place”—effectively, “go somewhere else”—or move to neighboring provinces or other locations without safe escort is simply inexcusable. I am among the scores of private citizens and ad-hoc organizations trying to help rescue our colleagues in Afghanistan. The American Medical Association (AMA) is calling for the "immediate end" to the use of ivermectin to treat COVID-19, and for doctors to stop prescribing it for that purpose, amid a spike in the use of the drug. Ivermectin, often used as a deworming agent in animals and sometimes for humans, is not approved to treat COVID-19 and has not been shown to work for that purpose. Poison control centers have recorded a five-fold increase in calls related to ivermectin, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Almost 2,000 cases of the variant have been detected in the United States.
