A controversial Texas law that bars abortions at six weeks went into effect early Wednesday morning after the Supreme Court and a federal appeals court failed to rule on pending emergency requests brought by abortion providers.
The lack of judicial intervention means that the law -- which is one of the strictest in the nation and bans abortion before many people know they are pregnant -- goes into force absent further court intervention.
The law allows private citizens to bring civil suits against anyone who assists a pregnant person seeking an abortion in violation of the ban.
No other six-week ban has been allowed to go into effect -- even briefly,

This is a positive step toward regaining the United States. And all we have to do is acknowledge that God exists.

“...before many people know they are pregnant”. People? Sorry, Ariane, but whether you like it or not only women can get pregnant.

FTA- "...bans abortion before many people know they are pregnant..."
Interesting use of "people" as opposed to "women", a subtle change as a nod to the trans community? As to the point of the time of knowledge about a pregnancy, this is a nod to the Marxist notion that pregnancy is something that "just happens" without any agency on the part of the mother. I believe in a woman's right to choose, however the moment of choice is when she decides to engage in sexual relations and not when the pregnancy test comes back positive.
In cases of rape the baby should not pay with its life for the crime of its progenitor. The circumstances of conception cannot be used as a death penalty for an innocent. In our current society there is no one to advocate for the life of the baby. In the aftermath of rape all counseling is focused on an abortion; you can cancel the rape by canceling the resultant life...except that is not what happens. Many rape victims report the abortion was like being raped again. Other women choose life and so many are present every year in D.C. for the March for Life. All those children and their mothers, natural and adopted, give testimony to how choosing life transforms an evil event by the joy of living.
Life is sacred from the womb to the tomb.

Thank you #4...I have worked with pro-life agencies for years. The women we worked with who were raped had to deal with the violation whether or not it resulted in pregnancy. It might surprise people that having an abortion was not the automatic reaction of those who did become pregnant. The women who went on to give birth to their babies would always say that, while the child might been conceived as the result of a strong-armed or violent attack, they could not commit an even more violent act against a complete innocent.
Some of our clients decided to keep and raise the baby while. A few already had families with other children and husbands who were incredible. Others opted to place the baby for multiple reasons. None of the women I worked with ever expressed any regret and, 30+ years later, those who have kept in touch with me, proudly pass around the pictures of their grandchildren.
No one has ever "helped" a woman by counseling her to abort her child. The way things are when an unplanned pregnancy is discovered may be light years different 9 months later. There are so many pro-life agencies and wonderful volunteers in this country that can help a pregnant women navigate all of the "what if's" and other fears of an unplanned pregnancy. Choosing LIFE is never a mistake.
The "abortion industry" does not care about women. They care about money. This new law in Texas terrifies them because it will cut off the money supply, and they fear other states will follow suit.

Only thing controversial is the willingness of some to murder innocent children.

#4, I have an adopted daughter. She was not the result of a rape but her birth mother knew that, at age 16 and living in a home with an abusive step father, she was in no position to raise a child. She was also Mexican and Catholic.
When my daughter was young we attended the March for Life every year and she carried a sign which read, “I’m adopted. Both my moms chose life.” At first we attached it to the front of her stroller and later on she carried it herself. She is now 31 and the mother of 2 children of her own. And she was born in west Texas.
God bless Texas! I hope that this law will be enacted here in South Carolina.

The legacy media is lying about this law. My friend told me she understood from what the MSM was reporting that ordinary citizens can make a 'citizen's arrest' for those who aid & abet an abortion. A civil suit is not a citizen's arrest. I am glad that part is in the law. How many men, the fathers of the children, have heard after the fact that some 'friend' of their partner has helped her get an abortion without his consent. The mother, the father & the doctor - not the PP - should be consulting on the situation.
