Veteran actor Ed Asner — who starred as the hard-driving but loveable TV newsman Lou Grant on TV’s classic “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and then in his own “Lou Grant” spinoff — has died, his family said. He was 91. (Photos) “We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully,” Asner’s official account tweeted Sunday afternoon. “Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your head- Goodnight dad. We love you.”

Not much here either. One less old-line commie. I did enjoy the Mary Tyler Moore show way back when.

Reggae pioneer Lee 'Scratch' Perry had died, aged 85. That upsets me a lot more than Ed Asner.

I saw Asner in a different light after he said, "I got some news for you. One, there is no Jesus. Two, there is no God. Three, mind your own business and everything works out."

Well…he was an old liberal BUT he played a delightful patriotic and conservative veteran in The Christmas Card. It was a great Hallmark Christmas movie I watch every year.

Even old Commies go belly up.
Momma always said fear of the dread Judgement keeps people alive longer than anything. God is giving them every chance to repent.

I would be happy that he at least can't vote any more. But who am I kidding? Given the Demon-Rat mastery of election fraud, he will be voting for far-leftoid candidates for years to come.

He lived to 91. The rest of the liberals will live to a 100. Carter will have secret service until 110, a retirement of 60 years.

Shame about Charlie Watts. I enjoyed his musical legacy and sense of style. If he had any in your face opinions on things other than music, I didn't see them and for a career as long as his, that's something these days. Some performers are hard to enjoy after they go out of their way to be a pain.

Asner was a hateful man.
He earned his face, not "gruff" as some would suggest, much darker than that.

I enjoyed him in both the Mary Tyler Moore Show and the Lou Grant spinoff. He was also very good in a short-lived series starring the actress from Cagny and Lacy. TV shows and movies are entertainment and are for relaxation. I don't care what the political leanings are of the actors. That's why I can deplore the idiocy and borderline treasonous behavior of Jane Fonda but still like her movies (some of them). if there is a god I'm sure that the pleasure Ed Asner brought to millions will count for something.

Ed Asner, huh ?
My only thought about that ; is that it is a real shame that Charlie Watts died.
What an absolute class act.
Took a deep dive into his jazz band albums & videos and there is a lot of really cool stuff on YouTube.

If nothing else, he was one of the few libs who would occasionally appear on the Fox News shows and have a civil debate with the host.

He made Mary Tyler Moore, a Republican, a household name. The show wouldn't have made it without him and she was able to do a lot of good with her platform. I will miss the entertainment he provided and I'm glad he'll finally see how he also was given a great platform and used it for evil instead of good.
