The Pentagon said Monday the U.S. had completed efforts to evacuate its remaining civilians and troops from Afghanistan, effectively ending the longest war in American history.
“I’m here to announce the completion of our mission in Afghanistan,” Marine Corps General Kenneth McKenzie told reporters in a virtual briefing. "The last C-17 took off at 3:29 pm."
The departure of the last U.S. plane from Afghanistan capped a bloody and chaotic end to the conflict. In the war's final weeks, fighting and terror attacks amid the scramble to evacuate thousands of Americans and Afghans left 13 service members and hundreds of civilians dead.

Just saw this and asked myself why isn't Biden leading this briefing instead of a general. At least it was more coherent. Biden could have made a statement and turned it over to the general. Guessing Biden was indisposed again. Everyone around him covers for him.
What a farce.
As for Afghanistan, there will be consequences for years to come regarding how Biden handled it. We reek of weakness.

NBC News would be among the last sources of info I would trust as to what's going on in Afghanistan or anywhere.

Longest war??? We've had troops in Germany and Japan since 1945 and in Korea since 1950. I guess it all depends on how you define a war.

FTA: He said the number of remaining Americans is in the "very low hundreds."
So 300-400? Still too many when does the ransom demands start?

#4 - Butt-head couldn't do it because he's exhausted from this morning's videoconference with the Southeastern governors, reviewing and shuffling all those papers in and out of folders on his table while acknowledging praise from Bel Edwards for all the support by the federal government. What a multi-tasker!

Will there be huge hoopla tomorrow with balloons and hearts on the White House lawn claiming a great victory because of Biden winning a 20 year war? I can hardly wait! And on Wednesday, the 1st, will there be. a huge terrorist attack as an exclamation point? I am so angry!

They had more than 24hrs left before the deadline...and still LOTS of equipt, not just people on the ground. Sat views of the airport yesterday showed numerous helos, at least 3 A10's, half a dozen larger drones, a couple of fighter/trainer jets, lots of APC's and MRAPS, how many of the R2D2 units used to shoot down ONE of the rockets fired yesterday are still in place?? No reports of explosions showing that they destroyed those things before abandoning them.(or the thousands of computers and communications equipt.)

Concludes? No, instead it triggered another set of major headaches for the U.S. And this time, they'll do it using our war weapons, gadgets, and technologies left behind. What BiteMe and his Minions along with the entire Democrats did against the U.S.A. is historical and triggered the beginning of the END for AMERICA.

You mirror my concerns completely, #12. How much more did we gift these savages while tucking tail and slinking away. You can bet they will not be admitting to any of this given the massively negative reaction by the public to them pissing away $85 billion in hardware bought by taxpayers already.

This has not concluded. Because of horrible execution, we're going to have to go back in, fighting against our own weapons, to get more Americans out.

The only explanation that makes any sense is that Joe Biden is an agent of the Chinese government. If Xi Jinping were sitting behind the Resolute Desk, the outcome would be the same. Biden not only stole the election he has surrendered to our enemies. When do we call this what it is, treason?

Leaving how many Americans to die or be held hostage?
The hideous, incompetent cowards in DC are also murderers of Americans.

How about we start a go fund me for the Talibans. They get the money if their first attack in the U.S. is on the Hampton's, Martha Vineyard and Hollywood. At the same time. I'd donate a few thousand.

I have a problem calling this a war. It really wasn't a war. We didn't fight it like a war, and really didn't go after the enemy like in a war. At most it was a police action.

According to this report, we are out completely, including all troops. I had read other places that we were just done with the civilians but apparently not. How many Americans did we abandon? I suppose we will never really know.
