How’s masking going? If it’s doing you right, why not double your pleasure? You can. Or, you have to — according to the mayor of Philadelphia. That would be, if you haven’t taken the vaccine. And if you work for the city. As reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer, COVID cases in the city have surged. Therefore, the mayor and his associates bear robust remedies. On Wednesday, Mayor Jim Kenney and acting Health Commissioner Cheryl Bettigole laid out new restrictions. To put it colloquially — they’re somethin’ else. At a press conference, Jim bemoaned his duty: “It goes without saying that none of us want to be here discussing restrictions

Comments:

Even more covid news to keep important 'stuff' out of the news. When the taliban attacks US interests again, prepare for a third mask.

Even St. Fauxci abandoned this as nonsense a while back. You can always count on the stupidity of a leftist dimwit politician to pick up the ball and run with it. Control freaks, every single one of them. This one continues the liar by claiming that "none of us want to be here discussing restrictions". Liar. You and your ilk love it. You want to be in charge of every single little thing, just like a little tin horn dictator.

Anecdote. Was at a tropical fish keepers convention (good) in St. Louis (bad). They re-imposed a mask mandate for the day we Texans were leaving. The hotel (Holiday Inn, very bad) desk actually offered me a free mask in order to check out. Told them if they didn't want me to check out inside I would be in the driveway loading my luggage and we could do it there, no mask required. I was in Memphis 6 hours later (checked out)

Petty Tyrants & idiots! From what I have gathered that is useful on the Net: People do not need to wear a mask outside, especially when they keep a physical distance. N95 masks are the only masks that made a significant difference in any study. “Standard” masks (non-N95’s) will not protect you if you violate any of the four main risk factors that predict transmission within indoor spaces; Density, Duration, Dimensions, and Draft: Density – # of people in the room Duration – # of hours spent in the room Dimensions – # of square feet and ceiling height of the room Draft – amount of fresh air entry/speed of air flow And mask hygiene is a big bad mess - kids and most adults don't do good mask hygiene. So don't even try unless you know you are in a room with an infected person. So if the kids go to school - lower the number of kids in a room - bring in some fans - teach the kids in the gym. In an office, do the same - open the windows - etc. And let people decide for themselves if they want to wear a dirty rag on their faces.

he COVID pandemic has witnessed the exercise of state “police powers” on a scale and scope unprecedented in America’s peacetime history. Out of fear of contagion, massive amounts of private property in the form of shops, restaurants, bars, and other businesses were peremptorily seized and shuttered. The rights of landlords to collect rents and evict tenants were suspended. The ability of people to cross from one state to another was hobbled by regulations, quarantines, and delays. And most of this was accomplished by governors and mayors acting by decree, with only the most tenuous of statutory authorizations. Initially implemented for what was to have been a brief period of medical

An executive order signed quietly by Tennessee’s Republican governor is troubling some Americans as it greenlights the National Guard and State Guard to implement quarantines and involuntary commitment of citizens “in connection with certain health care and emergency services operations,” with the governor specifically concerned about “an increase in COVID-19 cases.” Gov. Bill Lee signed Executive Order 83 on Friday “with little fanfare” according to Tennessee Stands, an influential conservative coalition. The group says it found some of the provisions in the executive order “exceptionally concerning,” including: “Discretion to utilize National Guard and State Guard members in connection with certain health care and emergency services operations.” Telephone

Dr. Anthony Fauci has doubled down on his support for local vaccine mandates to compel the vax-skeptical to take the jab against their wishes. As the national debate over mandatory vaccines continues to rage, Democrats are doing their best to force or coerce people into being vaccinated — instead of letting it be a personal choice. During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Fauci discussed the ongoing issues with the COVID-19 pandemic, with the conversation focusing largely on the Delta variant. Media activist Chuck Todd opened by asking Fauci about the confusion in the information coming from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as to whether

The University of Wisconsin removed a controversial boulder from its Madison campus Friday after the Black Student Union and other activists objected to its description nearly 100 years ago with a racial slur. Chamberlin Rock, which rests atop Observatory Hill, is named after a 19th Century geologist and former university president, Thomas Crowder Chamberlin, whose work centered on glacial deposits, according to a bio on the university’s website. But it was a reporter’s reference to the rock in a nearly century-old Wisconsin State Journal article that prompted the push for its removal. In October 1925, the university had the boulder excavated and placed prominently atop the hill to honor Chamberlin,

President Joe Biden continues promoting coronavirus vaccine mandates for American citizens, but the White House still struggles to explain why that standard is not applied to migrants crossing the Southern border. White House press secretary Jen Psaki ignored a question Thursday asking if the administration wants to apply the same vaccine standards proposed for foreign visitors to migrants released into the United States. Psaki said that “interagency working groups” are developing a plan for international travel but did not address migrants coming across the Southern border. “Given where we are today with the Delta variant, we will plan to maintain existing travel restrictions at this point,” she said.

There was a time when parental involvement in our kids’ education was seen as a good thing that all parents should do. We were invited to meet our kids’ teachers and even participated in class once or twice a week. This was all part of making sure our kids obtained the education our tax dollars paid for. The COVID pandemic and the moral panic following George Floyd’s death destroyed all of that. Unionized teachers advocated for closing schools and keeping them closed and started sneaking in critical race theory teachings at every level during online classes. When parents noticed and asked, they tended to get a run-around or

He sure is. One can give him a partial pass on COVID’s resurgence since the rise of the Delta variant was out of his hands. But the other three here are squarely on him. Even COVID is only a partial pass. Many millions of senior citizens are sitting around waiting to be infected as the immunity from shots they received six or seven months ago ebbs. What are Biden’s CDC and FDA doing about it? Jack at the moment, to all appearances. I have no sense of how the catastrophic lightning fall of Afghanistan’s government will play with voters.

What will it take for Joe Biden to admit he is disastrously wrong about Afghanistan? The US leader struck a defiant pose last week. Sounding like a slightly desperate Olympics coach, he told Afghans it was their country. If they want it, they have to fight for it. In American politics-speak, this is called tough love. Without the love. Biden has more hands-on foreign policy experience than any president since George HW Bush. That doesn’t mean he knows what he’s doing. Opinion polls suggest his abrupt Afghan withdrawal has majority public support. That doesn’t mean Americans will remain indifferent as the carnage and misery mount.

As the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack looms, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum is crying poverty for the second year in a row. This time, it says it can’t afford to mount special exhibitions planned to mark the two-decade milestone. In 2020, the twin-beam “Tribute in Light” was canceled only to win a last-minute reprieve after soon-to-be-ex Gov. Cuomo pitched in state resources. But no such bailout appears in the offing this time. In fact, this year, the museum is shamefully restricting the reading-of-the-names ceremony exclusively to the families of 9/11 victims. No hero firefighters, cops, first responders or emergency workers,
