Former first lady Melania Trump is firing back after NBC resident historian Michael Beschloss criticized her renovation of the Rose Garden — blasting his comments as “misleading” and “dishonorable.” Taking to Twitter, Trump’s office slammed Beschloss for his comments about her landscaping, writing, “@BeschlossDC has proven his ignorance by showing a picture of the Rose Garden in its infancy.

Comments:

When she and Mr. Trump are back in WH she could request that “historian” as a gardener, looks like he’s good for nothing but gardening

Didn't XiNN praise her renovation last year? The renovation restored the Rose Garden to resemble the original Kennedy Admin design and allowed for the addition of modern audio and video capabilities. TDS is a terrible mental disorder

The stronger than expected jobs figures released Friday conceals a troubling sign for the economy: black employment fell in the best month for the labor market since Joe Biden was inaugurated. The economy added an estimated 943,000 jobs in July. But those job gains were far from evenly distributed. White employment rose by 1.1 million in July. Asian employment rose by around 267,000. Black employment actually declined. Hispanic employment, which is counted separately and includes people of any race, rose. The job losses were concentrated among black men. Black women gained jobs for the month.

Otis McKane, 36, was found guilty of capital murder July 26 in the execution-style slaying of Detective Benjamin Marconi. McKane claimed that Marconi, a 20-year veteran, was a random target of his anger but prosecutors said the defendant had been stalking the detective and planning his "heinous and unspeakable" murder, according to the San Antonio Express-News. The Bexar County jury deliberated for 7 and a half hours Friday before recommending the sentence.

Former President Barack Obama has allegedly scaled back his big 60th birthday party after most of his supporters questioned the wisdom of holding an event for hundreds of people during a resurgent pandemic. Plans for the Saturday bash at his multimillion-dollar home on Martha’s Vineyard had been going on for months—but the spike in virus case numbers has forced a rethink. “Due to the new spread of the Delta variant over the past week, the President and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the event to include only family and close friends,” Hannah Hankins, an Obama spokeswoman, said early Wednesday.

The White House on Wednesday called on OPEC and its allies to boost oil production as gas prices continue to climb, threatening the nation’s economic recovery. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said in a statement the administration has spoken with OPEC members urging the group to increase production. OPEC, which stands for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, reached an agreement last month with its non-OPEC allies, known as OPEC+, to increase oil production by 400,000 barrels per day. But Mr. Sullivan said that isn’t enough to bolster the oil supply. “While OPEC+ recently agreed to production increases, these increases will not fully offset previous production cuts

Senator Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) was challenged recently by a caller on the “Jay Thomas Show.” The caller asked Cramer to reveal the identity of the Capitol Police officer who shot and killed unarmed Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, on January 6.
