US Intelligence officials are warning that the Afghan capital of Kabul could fall to Taliban forces in as little as a month, despite a huge security force that far outnumbers the rogue group previously triggering claims that the city would be able to defend itself for at least a year. As stability in the region continues to erode, the Washington Post reports that the White House is currently bracing for the fall of Kabul, with an accelerated decline of security in the city taking it's toll over the last several weeks.Initial intelligence estimates had pegged the fall of Kabul to Taliban forces at six to 12 months following the departure

I have been crying over the US translaters who are going to die--we had close to a thousand and I do not think they have gotten them all out. This is going to be worse than the Saigon fall. But our media won't show it.
And this is all Biden's admin fault. I am not talking about ending the never-ending war but am talking about the s****y this withdrawal has been done. And as my husband, a USAF retiree, said, well it just reconfirms that people shouldn't trust US promises.

An administration that could get this so wrong has no business trying to run the US Government. We will be lucky to get out of this economic and COVID fiasco any better than the people of Kabul will get out of theirs. They have had constant help from the US since we started to bomb the country in 2002 and we saw what happened when the Lightbringer decided to surrender in the Middle East, Joe Biden is a total screw-up and the entire world knows it.

"Look, we spent over a trillion dollars over 20 years. We trained and equipped, with modern equipment, over 300,000 Afghan forces."
After all this the Afghans still can't stand up?? What are we supposed to do? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just wall them in and declare them a failed state incompatible with the modern world?
Let the rich muslim states baby sit the hell hole muslim states. There is no military answer and any answer you give will sound simplistic.

WWII was the last time we used the word VICTORY in all the dustups we’ve been involved in since then. Now we more frequently use PTSD and triple amputee. Sorry guys but you’ve been abandoned one more time.

This just proves that you can't give people freedom--they have to earn it themselves, and not that many folks in Afghanistan seem to value it.
Poster #7 hit the nail on the head with how our military forces have been misused in the past half century. WW II was the last time we engaged in a war where we demanded the outcome would be the "unconditional surrender" of our foe. Since then, it has been some sort of "exit strategy" that sees to solve nothing but to test our newest military hardware, with our soldiers, sailors and airmen being placed in harms way with very little benefit to America. I am a conservative and a veteran, and I feel that our military should not be misused as the cop on the block throughout the world.

This is Bush's folly, just as Iran is Carter's folly. We should have smashed them and left as a lesson not to provoke us. Instead, we hung around and wasted treasure and blood. So sorry for those who gave their lives during our failed occupation. Putin must be doubled over with laughter after we proved we're no better at occupation than the Russians - we simply stayed longer and spent more.

Is this part of the Democrat's false flag to get the election cheating out of the news. Funny that on the same day Mike Lindell began his symposium on election fraud and producing proof that there was a wide range of cheating, Cuomo resigned and there were strong rumors that Nancy will step down. Coincident? There will be more in the coming weeks. Just wait until the communication and/or grid fails. Also, isn't it also funny that while the Democrats are in total control (ha ha) big politicians are resigning and many Democrats are being busted for pedophilia. Another Coincident? Who's really in charge?

Another bipartisan disaster, the 2nd in 2 days. President Trump’s plan called for a US departure on May 1st while Biden perversely selected 9/11/21 as his withdrawal date. Both presidents foolishly wanted a negotiated end to this endless war even though the Taliban used the discussions as a smokescreen to seize much of the Afghan countryside. And now the provincial capitals are being overrun, and soon Kabul The Taliban and its ally, ISIS, will soon begin their executions in Kabul’s soccer stadium and hundreds of thousands of Afghans will try to escape into Europe or across the Rio Grande.
What’s been forgotten is that the Obama/Biden Administration did a complete withdrawal from Iraq in 2011, leaving a void that was quickly filled by ISIS and its demonic Caliphate. History is about to repeat, in both Afghanistan and by year end, in Iraq, when Biden removes our remaining forces. Our leaders never learn, and we are left with TV commercials with tragically wounded soldiers asking to money to pay off their mortgages.

Between the rise of the Taliban and ISIS again and our lack of a southern border, how long does anyone think it will be before we suffer another massive terrorist strike here? I hope that no one believes that all those illegals flooding the border are Hispanics.

I've seen this before it's "push the helicopters off the carrier deck moment" all over again. Our daunted leaders and generals lose wars on purpose at the cost of young blood and lives. Young people are squander for tribal dirt who were fighting and murdering long before the Russians and Americans arrived and will be forever. Do I care if Kabul falls certainly not. On the bright side the Taliban now has some nice American equipment to fight with.

It was W's grand plan to turn Afghanistan into a little American representational democracy, to make it a little bit of the West in the East, and transform Afghans into little Vermonters. Interesting idea, but before you can do that you must first make their culture Western, and that means converting them to Christianity.
Without the stomach to blow up the mosques and replace them with churches and schools, W's plan was doomed from the start. The poor Afghans who fell for it are now marked to pay the price for W's folly. Westernize do "yes," or Westernize do "no." Westernize do "guess so" and Afghans get squished like grape.

If we're not going in to win, then don't go in. If we're not going to use the weapons we have to achieve victory and if lawyers are imbedded in the units to tie the hands of our soldiers, then don't even think about going in.

The seeds for this failure were planted almost 20 years ago. The US had righteous indignation to justify the revenge of 11 September 2001. The Taliban regime under Mullah Omar was complicit in providing sanctuary (a key Pashtun tribal code) to USB and al Qaeda. We flushed out AQ and USB and the Taliban regime fell within weeks of our attacks.
But few thought through what we (and the international community) should do next in the short, medium and long game WRT Afghanistan. Because of PC sensitivities, nobody wanted wanted to address the root cultural issues of Afghanistan, that it is a conglomerate tribal culture under the yoke of Islam (that also had endured over 30 years of civil war and 10 years of brutal Soviet occupation).
The other fatal flaw in Afghanistan (and Iraq) was the emphasis of the application of the military above all other instruments of national power, which includes diplomacy, informational and economic assets (known as DIME). The DoD was running the show while State Department and other key cabinet positions and federal agencies just went along for the ride.
The primary role of the military is war-winning. As Clausewitz posited, "War is the continuation of politics by other means." The military exists to kill people and to break things. The DoD won that 'war' in Afghanistan in December 2001. To be clear, the military performs other functions as well, such as humanitarian relief, disaster response and to provide temporary post-hostilies administration to an occupied land. DoD never relinquished that role in Afghanistan. In a way, it was a means for OSD and JS to justify their authorities and primacy over any other federal agency, not only in Afghanistan but also to demonstrate that DoD is the key player in planning and executing national foreign policy.
Trump to his credit, recognized what was going on: Afghanistan became a self-licking ice cream cone with little national interest in remaining. In retrospect, it's now obvious why Pentagon brass, civilian defense officials and certain NSC advisors undermined his efforts to withdraw from Afghanistan. Trump also understood that to withdraw prematurely would be a disaster. Hence, Trump advocated a condition-based withdrawal with a notional bogey date of Spring 2021.
Enter Biden and his puppet masters. While claiming that they were only following Trump's timeline. That was only an excuse. Biden can easily override any previous administration's policy with a stroke of a pen. Instead, Biden placed historical dates, namely the 4th of July (the target date of most US Forces and equipment exfiltrated from AFG) and September 11th (target date for all remaining US forces out) as his actual timeline.
Unfortunately, Biden never informed GIRoA in advance of his decision until Biden advertised it to the world--and the Taliban. It is also obvious that the Biden Administration and DoS clearly have not through the second -and third-order effects of his decision, to include the timing. The fall of Kabul will trigger a stampede of refugees into Pakistan and Iran. Once US Chief of Mission invokes Non-Combatant Operations (NEO), all available airlift resources will now on be on the hook to evacuate between 150K to 300K NEO individuals. There are simply not enough military aircraft and commercial charters to handle those numbers in a short amount of time out of Hamid Karzai International Airport, the ONLY aerial port of embarkation remaining in Afghanistan. In addition, Kabul is running out of supplies, including JET-A aviation fuel and DoS has yet to confirm temporary safe havens for all of those NEOs in the surrounding region. This is a Charlie Foxtrot of the worst order of magnitude.
On a personal note, I was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010-2011 as a combat advisor. I often question was it worth the time, effort, risk (including my own soldiers, sailors, airmen, contractors, and interpreters), blood spilled, and money lost. At this point I must unfortunately conclude that the answer is 'no'--with one exception: I was able to sponsor my interpreter, Jamshid, and his family out of Afghanistan. They have earned to privilege to do so, having been with us, shoulder to shoulder, under fire, and under the risk of torture and death. They are now US citizens and reside in Virginia.

When the USA invaded Afghanistan the plan that was implemented was a PC based limited warfare strategy. Obviously that plan was incompetent on the battlefield, as after 20 years with the USA spending over a trillion dollars probably about half of that money having been skimmed off through corruption, along with taking a lot of casualties, the Islamic grounded Taliban irregular army is still there and is growing stronger. Now it is coming to light that US intelligence and military reports on Taliban capabilities are wrong and that the Government Army that was trained by the USA and NATO contingents is showing that much of that army is about as tough as a wet noodle and are either running away or are surrendering in big numbers.
The Taliban is one of the most ruthless irregular armies in the world, that along with its many forbearers in Afghanistan have been fighting enemies for hundreds of years using dark age tactics. As the US was invading Afghanistan 20 years ago Russian Generals with combat experiences in Afghanistan openly told the world on TV that the USA was embarking on a fool’s errand by trying to battle the Taliban by implementing the PC based limited war tactics used by the Western democracies since the Second World War, and that the USA would be sorry in the end. The way it looks today, with Biden pulling out of Bagram air base in the middle of the night, and telling the Government of Afghanistan that it must fend for itself in fighting the Taliban from now on, Biden was actually giving encouragement to the Taliban and further demoralizing the elements of the Afghanistan Government who are actually the enemies of the Taliban. In the end it certainly may come to another Saigon style US retreat that the Democrats perpetrated at the end of the Vietnam War all over again!
Clearly if the objective of the USA is to actually win future wars against brutal dark age enemies like the Taliban, once that decision is made, the USA must implement a total war strategy that grinds that enemy into smithereens reminiscent of the battles back during the times of Genghis Khan or end up loosing again. I would not put it past the Taliban to say that they went easy on Biden, and the American Generals who have never won a war, to give them a way to retreat out of Afghanistan.

The policy for dealing with Afghanistan has been a mess since the Russian Occupation. We armed and trained Bin Laden's troops with the latest armament, including Stinger missiles. The Russians saw what a no-win situation this guerilla was, and pulled out leaving us holding the bag.
Now our troops will leave, our weapons and other military equipment will stay, and the tribal wars, which have been going on since the 5th Century A.D. will continue. Let's see if the CCP is foolish enough to enter the fray.

Everyone knew this tragedy would be the result with the abrupt Biden policy. Biden and his dem handlers are totally responsible. They just can't do anything well and could care less. They never look back at the devistation their policies cause. They just don't care. America needs better leaders of integrity. Biden has been in the WH mere months and the entire planet suffers.
