An online left-wing magazine in Canada is calling for the sale of pickup trucks to be banned unless the purchaser can prove that they really need one in their lives, and this has Americans worried that the United States could be next. In a piece published this week, Passage magazine managing editor Davide Mastracci argued that the long-term goal is to “shift away from relying on private vehicles entirely,” but that for now, he’d like to start with the iconic, American-created pickup truck. Why? Because of the alleged threat posed by climate change.“[D]rastically cutting emissions from the transportation sector is of the utmost importance for a successful climate strategy.

That's racist against Southerners and other people that work.
Can a mulatto own a pickup?

Only if they've succeeded in disarming the public first. Start that * in Texas, lemme know how it goes.

Too obvious. They will make the cost of owning a pickup prohibitive so people cannot afford them. :(

Pickup trucks accounted for 20% of all new vehicles sold in the U.S. last year, so banning pickup trucks ain't going to happen. Ford has already started to produce an all electric F-150 pick up. Even WOKE corporations aren't going to kill off 20% of they're sales to appease the global warming crowd.

How about we ban 'eco-warriors' and SJWs and all the other leftards? That's sounds like a much better plan to me.

Went on a road trip to DC a couple years ago. Pulled up to a Supermarket and in the entire parking lot there were exactly 3 pickups. Also noted that their parking places are really tiny.
I suppose I would consider selling my Tundra is somebody can show me how to fit a full sheet of plywood into my Nissan 350Z.

#4, several woke car companies have proposed ceasing to produce ICE vehicles, which would kill off over 90% of their market.

I hope the Biden administration proposes this. It will help swing votes the other way in non-urban PA, in all of Michigan, and it will help turn GA back to red and keep TX that way, and maybe, just maybe, AZ too.

Actually I have wanted a small high gas mileage low power pickup I can use as a commute vehicle to my job but has a truck bed in the back where I can fit the occasional sofa, washing machine, lawnmower, etc. I have no need to tow a two ton boat or trailer. But every year the car companies brag about how this or that vehicle is longer or wider or more powerful this year than last year.
Remember the 1970's Toyota and Datsun pickups? An easy +30mpg. They were two feet shorter than the smallest pickup on the US market today. As a college student I was assigned to transport a palletized diesel engine back to the research lab. That little pickup did just fine.
The new Ford Ranger is nearly the size of an F150. Forget it. The car companies are creating their own problems. I often think about getting a '70s Datsun pickup and restoring it. Simple engine. A nice carburetor. No computer. No cam sensor. No mass flow nothin'. No platinum anywhere in the vehicle. The only warning light on the dash was temperature and oil pressure. Those were the days.

Come to Texas, stand in the road. While you're counting the pickups, you are 100% guaranteed to be run over the ones you DON'T count! Problem Solved...and we didn't need Captain Obvious for this one...

#6, Canadians are quite well, thank you. Just because a miniscule demand something and the rotten media run with it does not make it an issue.

I grew up in Northern California and have now lived in Nevada for years. I accompanied my wife to New York a few yeas ago and sensed something was amiss. It finally dawned on me that in the week I was there I saw ONE pickup truck.
