Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said on Monday morning that he was 'ready' for his flight to space as he appeared in a series of interviews with his Blue Origin crewmates 24 hours before their scheduled lift-off from west Texas. Bezos will fly up to 66 miles above the surface of the Earth on the fully autonomous rocket and capsule New Shepard, sending him 13 miles higher than billionaire rival Sir Richard Branson who flew to space on Sunday, July 11. It is the first space flight that will include a paying passenger - 18-year-old Oliver Daemen whose Dutch billionaire father paid an undisclosed amount for his fare.

Its interesting to see the billionaire class spending fortunes on future space travel technology. This is all to pick up the slack for NASA that has been starved for funding from Congress for its Moon and Mars manned programs. What I discovered from my own research is that manned spaceflight is extremely harmful to biological systems and is actually slow motion suicide. Beyond the issues with blood pooling in upper extremities due to zero g not balancing the normal blood pressure there are other serious problems with space flight that haven't been publicized. The mitochondria in cell don't function efficiently to produce energy in cells. Blood clotting does not happen as rapidly in zero g and even modest cuts can be fatal from bleed outs. No astronauts have ever had invasive surgery in space because wounds simply don't heal until they return to earth. We have no idea how zero g would effect reproduction or gestation since no program could ever ethically do these experiments in space without knowing the risks to the fetus. Most organ systems in the body lose function in space and the effects take years to reverse once the astronauts return to normal gravity. This may actually reduce their life expectancy. Our bodies have evolved in a one g environment and the high radiation, low g environment of space is extremely hostile to our basic body functions. This is the elephant in the room that no one at NASA really discusses when they ask for money for manned space programs.

"Bezos will fly up to 66 miles above the surface of the Earth on the fully autonomous rocket..." Reminds me of the punchline of the old joke about first-generation autopilots in the 1960s: "Nothing can possibly go wrong... go wrong... go wrong..." Much as I dislike the man, I don't wish him ill on this vanity flight. But people should always view autonomous machines with skepticism. Especially "version 1" of them...

President Joe Biden is pushing social media companies to suppress what he calls “misinformation” about coronavirus vaccines, blaming it for stalling the administration’s rollout and claiming that bad information is “killing people.”Yet Biden has been assisted by deliberate misinformation by social media companies, who suppressed the (true) story of Hunter Biden’s laptop, and he has also produced misinformation, for political advantage, that has damaged the country.1. Misinformation about neo-Nazis. Biden launched his presidential campaign in April 2019 by claiming that President Donald Trump had referred to neo-Nazis and white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, as “very fine people.” In fact, Trump had said they should be “condemned totally.”
