Ron DeSantis (R) led the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) straw poll, which was announced on the final day of the annual conference.Pollsters at CPAC asked conference attendees two questions: who would they support in a 2024 bid for president if Donald Trump runs, and who is their top choice if he does not. How about Trump gets back in next year. Serves 2 years. DeSantis is the VP. Then for 2024 DeSantis runs for President and again in 28. Meanwhile, Trump is elected to run the UN. There were rumors that if Hillary got in last time, Bill would have been in charge of the UN.

RDS for Prez, Trump as Veep. Because 1)It would throw the Left wildly off kilter, and also keep DT slightly askew of the crosshairs. He's not in the top slot, plus they'll be awful busy trying to skewer the clean RDS with any number of their 'projection' arrows. 2) Trump doesn't NEED to be Prez again, but can be a powerful influence by focusing on those many things he got right! RDS would have better instincts (I would think) on the networking necessary to surround himself with a better team. Sorry, but Trump's attempts at swamp draining failed to take a full accounting of the presence or nature of the alligators. 3) The combination numbers are good, and expands the generational reach. And yeah, many of us support Trumps goals and achievements, but there were unforced errors in his rhetoric along the way. DeSantis can be a beacon to us without being a flamethrower to them. We need that now. 4) Throws the Left wildly off kilter. Bears repeating.

I don't think PDT is going to run again. Best president of my lifetime, accomplished wonderful things in the face of unprecedented opposition and sheer treachery. But he is getting on in years and I don't think another candidacy would have the appeal his did in 2016 and 2020. We'd love to have revenge, but I believe most of the country is weary of controversy and doesn't want to fight a new version of the old battles. As poster # 2 astutely suggested, RDS can rally and inspire us without PDT's (unfairly contrived and imposed) baggage. And IMO he should pick a fresh face as his running mate - running in PDT's shadow would not help but could hinder his candidacy. He has to run as his own man.

The initial Biden administration response to the mass rallies for freedom that took place across Cuba on Sunday was a disgrace. As Cubans took to the streets defying the Communist regime’s totalitarian police, a senior State Department official tweeted that the administration viewed the protests as merely a result of unhappiness “about rising COVID cases/deaths” in the island country. That’s pure bunk. The slogans shouted by thousands who risked imprisonment or worse were about an end to the Communist dictatorship installed in the 1950s. “Freedom!” “Enough!” they cried.

Following the unrest on January 6th, 2021, the media and their political allies set about to paint what happened as the worst thing to hit the country since the Civil War. Joe Biden bandied that line about multiple times while Nancy Pelosi feigned deep concern. The reality of the situation always made those comparisons ludicrous, including comparisons to 9/11, where 3,000 people died and terrorists literally attempted to blow up the Capitol Building. Further, there’s a fairly objective case to be made that the BLM riots of 2020 were far worse, as well, seeing dozens of deaths and billions in destruction. Yes, well, so much for that; another lie debunked. “Americans should brace themselves for several years of higher inflation than they’ve seen in decades, according to economists who expect the robust post-pandemic economic recovery to fuel brisk price increases for a while,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “The respondents on average now expect a widely followed measure of inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy components, to be up 3.2% in the fourth quarter of 2021 from a year before.
