The massive COVID rescue package President Joe Biden signed back in March — the same law that included $1,400 stimulus and the monthly payments for families that start next week — is now offering free health insurance to millions of Americans, through the end of 2021. The benefit's zero-premium health plans became available on July 1, with no income limits for qualifying. But there is one major eligibility requirement. Comments:

So if you were camped out on unemployment you also get free health insurance. No pesky deductibles either. Why have any of us bothered working the last 6 months?

NOTHING is FREE. We might as well just work and have our whole check deposited in biden's bank account. After all wasn't it clinton who said we don't know how to spend our own money correctly? biden is intent to put half of the nation in the "free stuff" wagon while letting the rest of us throw our paychecks at them. And the wormhole to hell just keeps on keeping on. Wake up America.

USA's outstanding national debt cannot possibly be paid down, and government expenditures are such that they borrow 44¢ for every dollar they spend, with the dwindling pool of taxpayers on the hook for all of it. For now we're quite happy in having our savings and salaries destroyed through inflation and 0% interest rates, but at some point people will notice they have nothing left. That's the goal of our communist revolution; destroy the middle class by grinding them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.

Recently had dinner with a business owner who pays his employees $25/hour. Unfortunately, between stated and Federal handouts, potential employees get the equivalent of $36/hour, so he has to pay them more than that to get them to work. Of course, he can't afford that, so he just has to sit out the freebies which will (hopefully) end in September. The whole purpose of the freebies is a back-door way to raise the minimum wage since salaries never go down, only up. Meanwhile, every business in town has "we're hiring" signs posted everywhere, and most restaurants and stores are understaffed.

Re #3. No, Medicare is not 'free'. One of my doctors actually thought it was completely free and was surprised when I told him how it works. My wife and I pay almost $800 per month for Medicare and supplement. It's not cheap but the supplement makes doctors more likely to accept you as a new patient.
