Derek Chauvin, the former police officer who killed George Floyd during his arrest in Minneapolis last year, was sentenced to 22 years in prison on Friday. Chauvin was found guilty in April of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. The former police officer is seen in a video of the arrest kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes, persisting even after he became unconscious. Chauvin spoke briefly during his sentencing hearing on Friday: “I want to give my condolences to the Floyd family,” Chauvin said. “There’s going to be some other information in the future

The deification of Fentanyl Floyd continues with this ridiculous sentence. Chauvin went to jail to avoid further rioting by the ferals. Any cop in a city run by Democraps should be looking for the door right now.

Instead of In God We Trust it will say in BLM & Critical Race Theory we trust. Instead of the Seeing Eye above the pyramid there will be a clenched Black power fist above a burning police car.

Hope Chauvin is protected from the general prison population. No doubt some thug would kill him just for the reputation. Don't know how much of a factor was Chauvin's restraint hold in Floyd's death, but one thing is for certain. No police officer in the United States will use that hold to restrain a perp from now on.

All the direct participants in this mess are meaningless compared to the impact on society going forward. Every action sends a message. Pay millions to the family of crooks killed while resisting arrest, and you will certainly see more resisting arrest. A cop who holds down a crook (who was strong enough to resist efforts of four cops to restrain him) gets sent to prison for 20+ years because the crook ended up dying of a drug overdose while restrained will result in cops backing off and letting crooks destroy their communities. Lionizing a violent, drug addict, criminal and building statues to him will lead youngsters to aspire to the life he lived. Nothing good comes from any of this.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday added a warning to the literature that accompanies Pfizer Inc/BioNTech and Moderna COVID vaccine shots to indicate the rare risk of heart inflammation after its use. For each vaccine, the fact sheets for healthcare providers have been revised to include a warning that reports of adverse events suggest increased risks of myocarditis and pericarditis, particularly after the second dose and with onset of symptoms within a few days after vaccination, the FDA said. As of June 11, more than 1,200 cases of myocarditis or pericarditis

For two hundred forty years, American generals have not exactly been defined by adamant public advocacy for left-wing cultural dogma. Yet there appeared to be a great awakening at the Pentagon on Wednesday when Gen. Mark Milley, the highest-ranking military officer in the U.S. as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, testified at a House hearing. The Chairman vehemently defended the teaching of critical race theory at West Point and, referencing the January 6 Capitol riot, said, “it is important that we train and we understand ... and I want to understand white rage. Kamala Harris seems to be met with protesters wherever she goes. As we reported, she was met by protesters, when she went to Guatemala, telling her to “Go Home.” Now, as she visits El Paso, Texas, protesters are out there for her photo op in the area. But I’m thinking that wasn’t the photo op that she wanted. The Hispanic, Trump-supporting group of protesters also gifted her with a new nickname, “Que mala,” which would translate to “how mean,” or “how bad.” A great, short expression of “how bad” she and Joe Biden have been for the border — and for the country in general.

Austin Mayor Steve Adler and Council Member Greg Casar defunded the city’s police in the name of racial justice and equity. Did they anticipate that their decision would result in a skyrocketing murder rate that disproportionately impacts the city’s minorities? That’s what’s happening. Austin suffered 47 homicides in all of 2020, which was the worst year for homicides in a decade. 2021, the year in which defunding the police kicked in, will surely surpass 2020’s total. Two fatal shootings in Givens Park on the city’s east side this week push the 2021 homicide total to 41 so far.

I’m enjoying the drama today over what Biden and Pelosi said about not passing the Senate’s bipartisan infrastructure bill unless the other component, the “human infrastructure” bill, also passes via reconciliation. Senate Republicans seem very mad about that ultimatum. Emphasis on “seem.” Because two things are clear. One: There was always going to be a reconciliation component to this. Joe Manchin has never given the GOP reason to believe he’d walk away from the reconciliation bill if they compromised with him on the roads-and-bridges part of infrastructure. This was a two-step process and Republicans negotiated in that knowledge.
