WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is suing Georgia over the state's voting laws, a person familiar with the matter said Friday.
The announcement will be made later Friday by Attorney General Merrick Garland. It comes two weeks after Garland said the Justice Department would scrutinize a wave of new laws in Republican-controlled states that tighten voting rules. He pledged to take action if prosecutors found unlawful activity.
The person was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly before the official announcement and spoke on condition of anonymity.
The move also comes as pressure grows on the Biden administration to respond to GOP-backed laws being pushed

So laws requiring people to follow the law are now crimes.

States are tasked with creating their own voting laws. The Constitution says so. Garland is proving to be just as big of a fraud as Holder was. Keeping this clown off the Supreme Court was about the best thing Turtle ever did.

The only way this flies is if they succeed in packing the Supreme Court and forcibly seize control of elections. Not that that couldn’t happen.

It's about time the Biden Administration stood up for all the cadavers whose votes are being threatened by these terrible laws.

"He pledged to take action if prosecutors found unlawful activity." Don't they have to have a predicate to believe illegal activity is already taking place, not just go fishing? The suit has no legal justification. It is harassment by authorities for political purposes. And they wonder why people stormed the capital on Jan. 06?

Gee, I missed the DOD press release on when the DOD will be suing Delaware and New York for their voting laws, which are more restrictive than the Georgia law.

Will the judges say that the Federal Government has NO STANDING to sue as voting laws, per the US Constitution are a State Rights issue. Also, there hasn't been an election yet since many of the laws have been passed so nobody actually knows if there is actually harm to anyone. Since an election hasn't occurred yet, there can be no harm and any harm can't be measured. Isn't that what Donald Trump was told by judges when he tried to sue over illegal changes made in some states by people not authorized to make changes in laws/rules? He was told it was too late to sue for the same changes after the election. The same rules should apply to the Feds. Follow precedent (Since Democrats are all about precedent in lawsuits)!

I did not read all 96 pages of the Georgia voting bill. I did read a 16-point summary of the bill by the New York Times.
There is absolutely nothing objectionable to any reasonable person of any political party -- so long as they believe in voting in general.
This crusade against Georgia is born of pure animus ... well plus a temper tantrum because it is now harder for leftists to cheat.
BTW, brilliant move by baseball. In their alleged attempt to stand up for black people, they moved the All-Star game from the blackest big city in America to a much whiter one. Way to go.
