AG Ellison Seeks Comments From Community

MINNEAPOLIS — In an unusual move, the Minnesota attorney general is asking the public to submit impact statements ahead of Derek Chauvin’s sentencing on murder charges Friday. It’s been two months since Chauvin was convicted on all counts for murdering George Floyd. While victim impact statements are common during sentencing, comments from the community are not. (Snip) The law, under 611A of Minnesota’s statutes, does allow to have community impact, but it says nothing about whether the entire state or nation can come in. Family members are also expected to give victim impact statements, likely similar to the one made

Ellison is seeking to light some fires. Since when does everyone in the state get to decide a sentence?

Here is mine. The most criminal thing in that courtroom was the railroading of an innocent man masquerading as a prosecution.

How does the AG know he will only be getting comments from fellow Minnesotans? The activists and social justice warriors (worldwide) will be spamming him, and Ellison will act like everything they say should be taken seriously. What a farce.

Subsection 611.A,038(b), Minnesota Statutes reads: "A representative of the community affected by the crime may submit an impact statement in the same manner that a victim may as provided in paragraph (a). This impact statement shall describe the adverse social or economic effects the offense has had on persons residing and businesses operating in the community where the offense occurred." One rule of construing the Legislature's intent of state statutes is "That which is not included, is excluded." Applying this rule the correct conclusion is: " . . . the community where the offense occurred" does not include the entire State of Minnesota.

now, the commie / muslim / obama clone can say he is justified when he loops the noose around Chauvin's neck because he has the support of :"the people" in hanging a man who was only doing his job. a lot of people have a lot to be ashamed of because of this legal debacle. there is no winner in this mess and the demcommies who are in control are the most devious and insidious characters who rise to the level of V.I. Does what the community thinks really matter. How about what Minnesota law and sentencing guidelines say. Do you really want a bunch of thugs, looters, arsonists, and rioters having any say in what type of sentence a former police officer receives. Give him probation, a gold medal, a new name, and a one way ticket out of town.

Anyone, especially a local, who dares to submit any statement that is not a complete condemnation of Chauvin is asking for trouble. So the submissions will advocate the maximum punishment and will predict protests and riots, etc. otherwise.

Lawmakers in Sacramento are poised to extend statewide eviction protections beyond the end of June to ensure emergency rental aid reaches struggling tenants in time to cover potentially all of their unpaid rent during the pandemic, a move strongly backed by local renter advocates and met with resistance by many landlords. The underlying issue is that state and county governments have been slow to distribute the $2.6 billion in federal funds to cover back rent. In Sonoma County, officials have so far disbursed less than 10% of the $32 million set aside for its rental aid program. Renter advocates fear

A project to preserve endangered Tasmanian devils on a small island has backfired after the predators killed seabirds in large numbers, a conservation group says. A small number of devils were shipped to Maria Island east of Tasmania, Australia, in 2012. The move aimed to protect the mammals from a deadly facial cancer that had driven them towards extinction. The devils have recovered since, but the island project has come at a cost. The introduction of the devils to the island has had "a catastrophic impact on one or more bird species", according to BirdLife Tasmania, a local conservation organisation.

The program is centered around a workbook for teachers entitled 'A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction' which asserts that America's education system – even mathematics instruction – reinforces the dominant power structures of white colonizers. Grading students, asking them to show their work, requiring participation and even pushing them to get the right answer are depicted in the workbook as harmful to minorities.

Maybe the Second Amendment should be extended to include F-15s. Seriously, though, this dumb gun-control talking point is deathless even though it’s never been clearer how untrue it is. There are many lessons to be learned from America’s adventure in Afghanistan but an easy one is that a crudely equipped force using guerrilla tactics is fully capable of prevailing over one with superior firepower. Surely there can be no connection between the cosmos and the idea of racial blackness. Can there?” reads the college catalog description.
