A group of Black people, shot by black people, afraid to discuss black people for fear of retaliation. Maybe the Juneteeth holidays will also become known a Black Purge Day (like the Purge movies) due to all of the shooting and killing. Mostly black on black.

Way back in my memory banks, the event known as Juneteenth was called the June 19th Emancipation Celebration in Texas and it was mostly a legitimate black family gathering type of event. White democrats have done more to poison June 19th celebrations than the blacks when it was a regional affair in Texas. In 1980, when Texas made Juneteenth a state holiday, I was in college about 35 miles from the epicenter of Juneteenth celebrations in Texas. I've always enjoyed history, so I availed myself of the special Texas Collection of old documents, diaries, and manuscripts held in a library on the campus of Baylor University. There were documents containing oral histories of former slaves, as well as the former Confederate soldiers, who returned to Texas after the war ended. The June 19th Emancipation Celebrations date back to the mid-1860s, when there were thousands of former slaves living in Central Texas after being released from bondage on cotton farms along the Blackland Prairie. In the early gatherings from 1866 through the early 1900s, these former slaves told their stories and answered questions about slavery among their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, until they died off. The main event was one of the elders reading or reciting from memory the message delivered by the US Army informing the slaves that they were free Americans. The celebrations continued over the years and I never knew a white Texan who had any problem with understanding why the descendants of slaves would revere the historical event. Once the professional race hustlers, "community organizers," and white progressives highjacked the Emancipation Celebration, the real meaning, to which any freedom-loving American could relate, has become bastardized by the white hating, anti-American focus of today's Obama-esq and BLM driven Juneteenth free-for-all. The pride that the actual former slaves held in being full Americans is no longer evident in 2021 and I blame white democrats for that tragedy and how they continue to use blacks to further their own interests in gaining and wielding power over others.

#13, another memory of Juneteenth in Texas is the joy of life of the celebrants. The Blacks in the community gathered in small groups in the local towns, happy and smiling. And I associate the aroma of BBQ with Juneteenth. Overall, it was just a happy day.

A project to preserve endangered Tasmanian devils on a small island has backfired after the predators killed seabirds in large numbers, a conservation group says. A small number of devils were shipped to Maria Island east of Tasmania, Australia, in 2012. The move aimed to protect the mammals from a deadly facial cancer that had driven them towards extinction. The devils have recovered since, but the island project has come at a cost. The introduction of the devils to the island has had "a catastrophic impact on one or more bird species", according to BirdLife Tasmania, a local conservation organisation.

In late May and early June 2020, looters smashed storefronts in the Bronx and Manhattan boroughs of New York City. Many were caught on tape, some with their faces visible. Others even posted their own videos of their actions those nights on social media. Hundreds were arrested. But a review of NYPD data by the investigative team at WNBC, the NBC owned station in New York, shows that a large percentage of the cases — particularly in the Bronx — were dismissed, and that many convictions were for counts like trespassing that carry no jail time. NEW YORK -- The declaration of Juneteenth as a federal holiday is putting the pressure on more U.S. companies to give their employees the day off, accelerating a movement that took off last year in response to the racial justice protests that swept the country. Hundreds of top companies had already pledged last year to observe Juneteenth in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd and the national reckoning on racism that followed. But most private companies take their cues from the federal government — the country's largest employer — in drawing up their holiday calendars. President Joe Biden signed legislation

U.S. President Joe Biden's administration has the power to stymie oil and gas development on government-controlled lands and waters, industry and environmental experts said, even though a court decision ended his freeze on federal drilling auctions. Some options, they said, include offering sparse acreage or imposing more time-consuming permitting requirements.
