Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins has died at the age of 90 after a battle with cancer, his family confirmed Wednesday morning. Collins was part of the three-man crew that made history with the lunar landing in 1969, but unlike Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, he never walked on the moon. However, Collins was tasked with piloting the command module that circled 60 miles above his comrades and took home a different and unique experience of the mission.'The thing I remember most is the view of planet Earth from a great distance,' he said later. 'Tiny. Very shiny. Blue and white. Bright. Beautiful. Serene and fragile.'

Definitely one of my heroes when growing up. All those astronauts, especially the early ones like Collins are really impressive individuals, and took a lot of risks. Even the Shuttle era astronauts had plenty of risk, and not all came home. I know two astronauts personally, met a couple others and have had the opportunity to fly formation with and become friends with two later generation astronauts one Military/NASA, one civil. They both are really interesting guys and a really solid pilots. The NASA guy spent a lot of time on the Space Station, was amazing at his geography from seeing from overhead for so long. I've heard Collins speak before, drove three hours to be there. Well worth it. RIP, Hero.

Cheered for them all, but Collins stood out for me. His book, Carrying the Fire, was well written and received. He "flew" on early Gemini flights as well. May God heartily receive him and rest his high flying soul.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Collins. The Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Shuttle Programs were America's hallmark. The world always wondered how such accomplishments were even possible at the time. And now we are going to Mars.

During a portion of an interview with NBC aired on Thursday’s broadcast of “NBC Nightly News,” President Joe Biden responded to Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-SC) speech on Wednesday and stated that while he doesn’t think the American people are racist, “after 400 years, African Americans have been left in a position where they are so far behind the eight ball in terms of education and health, in terms of opportunity.”Host Craig Melvin asked, “He said among other things, America isn’t racist. The U.S. Supreme Court has halted lawsuits from Democrats that accused Donald Trump of violating the U.S. Constitution’s anti-corruption provisions by maintaining ownership of his business empire including a hotel near the White House while in office. The justices threw out lower court rulings that had allowed the lawsuits – one filed by the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland and the other by plaintiffs including a watchdog group – to proceed, while also declining to hear Trump’s appeals of those decisions. The justices ordered the lower courts to dismiss the cases because they are now moot.
