Nine years ago, the New York Times was accusing John Boehner of racism. Now it’s eager to lap up every drop of vomitous bile from the former Republican House Speaker.
When Boehner asked Obama to move his speech by one day to avoid clashing with a Republican debate, NBC political analyst Richard Wolffe suggested that Boehner only did it because of "the color of his skin". Wolffe meant Obama's skin, not Boehner's. [SNIP] Since then Boehner has followed the usual career track of former RINOs from “worse than Hitler” to “sleazy lobbyist” to “author of unnecessary memoir bashing Trump”.

After a public break with Facebook and Twitter, MyPillow founder Mike Lindell is getting close to the launch of a new conservative-focused social network, giving more detail on the project in a video posted online this week. Called simply “Frank,” the social network plans to open its doors to a limited set of users on April 16th.
Developed in the months since the 2020 election, Lindell has described the project as a combination of “print, radio, and TV,” offering both text posts and live stream capability. Perhaps the strangest promise is that conservative personalities will have significantly more followers on the fledgling network.

“They Are Giving Hemingway Another Look, So You Can, Too…Lynn Novick and Ken Burns consider the seminal writer in all his complexity and controversy in their new PBS documentary series. [SNIP]
“Subversive?” Ah! At least the term appears in connection with the docuseries. And considering that Ernest Hemingway eagerly joined Stalin’s KGB (technically the NKVD at the time), secretly contributed tens of thousands to the Cuban communist party and (literally) drank, as a spectator, to Che Guevara and Fidel Castros’ firing-squad murder marathons, you might think the term “subversive” fits.

Driving to Taliban-controlled territory doesn't take long. [SNIP] We meet our host: Haji Hekmat, the Taliban's shadow mayor in Balkh district.
Perfumed and in a black turban, he's a veteran member of the group, having first joined the militants in the 1990s when they ruled over the majority of the country.
The Taliban have arranged a display of force for us. Lined up on either side of the street are heavily armed men, one carrying a rocket propelled grenade launcher, another an M4 assault rifle captured from US forces. Balkh was once one of the more stable parts of the country; now it's become one of the most violent.

Disney recently updated its dress code for employees at its theme park, including gender-inclusive hairstyles and visible tattoos.
In a blog post, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Josh D'Amaro said the company is making changes and “creating a place where everyone is welcome.”
D'Amaro announced that Disney made the changes to remain relevant in today's workplace and create a culture of belonging.
“Every Disney Parks cast member is familiar with our longstanding tradition of The Four Keys, Safety, Courtesy, Show and Efficiency, which have guided our approach to guest service for more than 65 years," D'Amaro said.
He added that the Fifth Key would be “Inclusion.”

A coffee shop owner who left Boise State University last year after activists complained about her support for police has filed a tort claim against Boise State University seeking $10 million in damages.
The March 24 claim, which is a precursor to a lawsuit, alleges slander, contract interference, fraud, and violations of constitutional rights, among other things.
Sarah Jo Fendley is owner of Big City Coffee, a shop in Idaho’s capital city that closed its brand new extension on the Boise State campus in October 2020.
It was widely reported at the time that the closure happened because of Fendley’s support for Thin Blue Line, a nonpolitical campaign to support police officers.

I wrote about the huge Family Endeavor contract for illegal aliens when it was first awarded, but this is a whole new twist on the story.
But it's a familiar D.C. twist.
A Texas nonprofit that recently hired a Biden transition official got a contract worth as much as $530 million to help manage the influx of migrant children at the southern border, Axios has learned.
Between the lines: Family Endeavors won the contract just months after it hired Andrew Lorenzen-Strait as its senior director for migrant services and federal affairs.

Iran Firsters are a problem. They're an even bigger problem when they're running the government.
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), hoping to quell speculation of wrongdoing, has formally responded to reports that he held a secret meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif last week. [SNIP] The Federalist first reported Monday that Murphy and other Democratic senators held a "secret" meeting with Zarif last week at the annual Munich Security Conference. The news immediately began to circulate in the media and led to speculation as to whether Murphy had undermined U.S. foreign policy or even potentially violated the Logan Act...

At least 50 journalists in the US have been arrested during Black Lives Matter demonstrations across the US, while dozens of others have also been injured by rubber bullets, pepper spray and tear gas.
The US Press Freedom Tracker has collected nearly 500 incidents from 382 reports, from the unrest in Minneapolis in the wake of George Floyd‘s killing by police in late May, to demonstrations in more than 70 cities across 35 states since.
At least 46 journalists were arrested between the end of May and the beginning of June, according to data collected by the organisation. Dozens of others reported injuries from law enforcement, firing “less lethal” projectiles...

What are the rules again?
Are riots a violent insurrection by radical groups which must be suppressed by any means... or a peaceful protest? Obviously, it depends on who's doing the rioting and where they're doing the rioting.
A riot in congress is an attack on "our democracy" while looting, burning and trashing a bunch of stores in Brooklyn Center is a peaceful protest.
Attacking Capitol Police officers is a horrifying crime, but attacking Brooklyn Center police officers is a peaceful protest.

I'm only surprised that Biden didn't pick an actual illegal alien to head CBP. That'll come a little later.
Meanwhile, Biden decided to nominate Tucson, Arizona police chief Chris Magnus, to head Customs and Border Protection. [SNIP] It ought to go without saying that the head of a pro-illegal department who actually blocked the Border Patrol from doing its job has no place whatsoever heading up CBP, but Biden, like Obama, keeps appointing foxes to oversee the national henhouse.
