Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo has told jurors that Derek Chauvin ‘absolutely did not’ follow police policy on de-escalation or use of force when he pressed his knee into George Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds. In explosive testimony Arradondo on Monday told the court that former officer Chauvin’s use of force ‘absolutely’ violated the department’s policy and belief in ‘the sanctity of life.’ And that the pressure that he used was contrary to all departmental teachings. He said: ‘Once Mr Floyd had stopped resisting and certainly once he was in distress and trying to verbalize that, that should have stopped.

If he defended Chauvin the Chief would have been fired.
This is becoming a legal lynching of Chauvin and the others 2 cops.

If the MPD written training manual, which authorizes the very restraint used against Floyd, doesn't agree with the Police Chief's declarations, the department has vicarious liability and the Chief may have committed perjury.

I'm sure the prosecution has checked this chief's social media, etc. and hopefully he said something about BLM or white supremacy. If he did it would make for an interesting cross examination.

Throwing one of the officer he leads under the mob bus in order to save his own incompetent ass. I'll bet the rank and file policemen still on the force in this communist cesspool absolutely loath their chief. Too bad fragging isn't an option for these Minneapolis cops. This chief is loathsome.

The cop has to spend 30 years behind bars for violation of departmental policy, according to a politician acting as a Chief? Certainly the criminal actually killed himself.

Arradondo is African-American, and the first Black person to serve as chief of the Minneapolis Police Department.
need we discuss this further?

How do they know that Floyd was not already dead or was well on his way to dying when he was placed on the ground? There is a lot of reasonable doubt there because of the massive overdose of illegal drugs that Floyd had consumed before he was encountered by the police and was noncompliant with police instructions. Then on top of that the autopsy report gave the cause of death as a massive overdose. A lot of the witness testimony so far has been designed to invoke emotions, while the autopsy report is based upon science.
Since the patrol officers on the Minneapolis Police Department absolutely know now that the Chief of Police will not back them in a tight situation up you would think that almost all the patrol officers would be heading for greener pastures, as they have to know that their ‘Chauvin” moment could come in a split second anytime they respond to a call.

This testimony is utter misdirection from the fact that this was not the cause of death, in that Floyd killed himself with an overdose. Complete CYA on Arradondo's part.

The Police Chief bases his conclusion on unproven premises. Not worth the breath behind the statements.

Often I like to see where someone is coming from. This pretty much tells it all about Medaria:

If I was a policeman under this chief, I would call him and ask him how to handle each incident. If he did not respond within 5 minutes I would release the individual I had stopped. If that individual is shooting at me, I would get in my car and drive to the chief's house and ask for protection.

This case should be reversed be court of appeals. More than one witness has been allowed to opine that the defendant committed murder.

That sounds like a guilty verdict right there. Do you think those jury people are going to make a decision that will be dangerous for them. Nope.

Have him explain the MPD training manual which uses a photo which shows precisely that position as the safest and medically recommended way to restrain a person with excited delirium.

What was done to Emmett Till in 1956 was horrendous but the worst part was that an all-white jury in Democrat-controlled Mississippi didn’t feel free to convict his killers, who were also white, because of public pressure, Jim Crow and fear. This Chauvin case is the same dynamic in reverse. Jim Crow has been replaced by BLM and Antifa - Democrats once again. People are terrified that Democrat-controlled Minneapolis will burn and so want a guilty verdict, despite its merits. And so, to avoid more trouble, Chauvin will be sacrificed. Perhaps that ever-yapping blabbermouth Oprah Winfrey would care to chime in and explain the difference between the Till case and Chauvin.

And yet body cam video shows his knee on Floyd's shoulder blade. By the way in case you missed the relevant info here this so called victim was high on PCP.

From what the camera shows, his knees was on Floyd's back. If I were a cop in that city, I would resign. If your boss, who sends you out on the streets with viscous criminals around risking your life every day does not tell the truth about a situation, you don't need to work for him. Let's see what happens to their police force after this.
