President Joe Biden’s son Hunter tried everything to wean himself off alcohol and crack — from yoga and therapy to psychoactive drugs and the anesthetic ketamine. But in his new memoir, he credits the secretions of the Sonoran Desert toad with keeping him sober for a year. He describes how he traveled to Mexico in 2014, as his marriage was unraveling, in a desperate attempt to get his life back in order, using drug treatments that were not legal in the United States. First, he was given ibogaine, a psychedelic derived from plants at a clinic in Tijuana, which he

What next? Maybe Hunter will start dressing in fishnet stockings and chunky heels like Doktor Jill.

The newest cure for alcoholism and drug addiction. Having recovered from alcoholism and drug addiction almost 15 years ago, I’ve been around and this is probably the biggest bunch of bull crap I’ve ever heard. Save this crap for your momma and daddy ok. They will believe it. Everyone else in recovery will bust gut laughing at you.

This type of sober would be a joke if it weren't so serious. Over the years,( S.Date 8/6/99) I've seen many claiming sobriety but ,in fact. using a substitute substance on the side. If the substance happens to be pot we call it the Marijuana Maintenance program. It may actually show some positive results but they are only temporary. It will bite you in the butt every time. #4 may have it nailed that as long as daddy enables him with protection from prosecution, helps him find positions to rake in huge sums of undeserved money, and otherwise keeps him from suffering the consequences of his actions, he is just mouthing the words of recovery with no actual growth.

This article is dangerous to anyone seriously interested in getting sober. Period. And people die because they will try anything to avoid working the twelve steps. There has been a significant amount of research and controlled medical studies exploring the use of a variety of drugs, which includes psychedelics, in aiding addicts get past trauma in talk therapy that was holding them back in their attempts at achieving Recovery. Bill Wilson talks about 'we only know a bit', and 'someday Science might cure addiction, but it hasn't yet.' Hunter's habitual addictions has set back legitimate research decades IMO. Anecdotally, I work the Twelve Steps in my life on a daily basis and have for 27 years, so it works if you work it. It has for me anyhow.

When Maria Ana Mendez left Honduras a decade ago to earn money in the United States, her daughter Cindy was still in pigtails and playing with dolls. But settled now with a job and an apartment in upstate New York, Mendez was ready to bring Cindy to live with her. Because she is still without legal status and could not legally bring her into the country, she paid a guide $8,000 in February to take Cindy, now 16, across thousands of miles to the doorstep of the United States. Three weeks later, Mendez heard from her daughter for the first

The prospect of a fourth wave of the coronavirus, with new cases climbing sharply in the Upper Midwest, has reignited a debate among vaccine experts over how long to wait between the first and second doses. Extending that period would swiftly increase the number of people with the partial protection of a single shot, but some experts fear it could also give rise to dangerous new variants. In the United States, two-dose vaccines are spaced three to four weeks apart, matching what was tested in clinical trials. But in Britain, health authorities have delayed doses by up to 12 weeks

Stanford University researchers have identified five new cases of a “double mutant” Covid-19 strain that was recently discovered in the San Francisco Bay Area. Doctors suspect it could be more contagious than earlier strains and may be resistant to existing vaccines. The new variant originated in India where it’s credited with a recent 55% surge in cases in the state of Maharashtra, home to Mumbai, after months of declining cases. It contains two key mutations, which scientists call E484Q and L452R, that have been found separately in other variants but not together in a single strain, according to Dr. Benjamin
