Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton threatened to sue the City of Austin Wednesday over the city’s continuation of a mask mandate. Governor Abbott removed the statewide mask mandate last week and his order went into effect Wednesday. Austin Mayor Steve Adler and Travis County Judge Andy Brown are keeping a mask mandate in effect until April 15 to “avoid another surge of cases.” I assume that the mayor and county judge (county CEO, not a judicial office) are concerned that newly free-to-be maskless Texans will throw caution to the wind. The Easter holiday is coming up and we are in the Spring Break season

I live in Austin. Every couple of years, the Soviet Socialist City of Austin decides it's going to openly rebel against the state government and "show them who is boss".
And every time they do it, the state government quickly hands Austin it's rear end on a platter. Austin slithers back under it's rock until it decides to have another hissy fit, and get it's rear end handed to it on a platter again.
In fact, the only thing stopping Austin from becoming a total and complete cesspool is that the state government offices are housed here -- thank God!!!!!

This is nothing more than a democrat scheme. If someone wants to wear a mask, fine do so. However, people like myself and MANY others don't want to wear one, then we should not have to.

Like my spousal unit, Mrs G2P, retired with thirty years ER, trauma, ICU, recovery experience and now professor of nursing has said since the 15 days of mask wearing began over a year ago, it has NOTHING to do with the virus. It has EVERYTHING to do with controlling people. The world has believed a lie, period.

Threatening to sue and actually doing it are very different things.

So many ironies....
If they trust their mask to do the job, why do they care about the virus floating around?
If they trust their vaccine, why do they care about me choosing to take some risk?
If they truly believed "my body my choice", why are they trying to force experimental chemistry into my blood stream?
This is all about controlling the ignorant masses.

I wish Ron DeSantis would do something like that as well. We never did have a Mandate for Masks in FL, but even still many stores have a sign on the door that a mask is REQUIRED for entry! I'm fully vaccinated and have done the two week waiting period after my last shot, so I don't feel it necessary to wear a mask ANYMORE AND ANYWHERE!! But trying to go about your business is a real challenge. There is always some Busy Body chasing down those who don't have a mask on! Jeesh! Will this ever get back to normal??? The signs on the door should say "Wear a Mask if you WISH"!

This is funny. Adler and the county judge forget who they govern. It was last year and the first sign of rebellion was in Austin when a sheriff was thrown into the drink when he tried to break up a party. After the governor's order, they don't think there will be more episodes like this?
BTW, Paxton has a good case. Remember Adler, the emergency declaration law passed by the legislature some time ago means the governor's EOs have the force of law. So, you are breaking the law, Adler. What irony.

Just put razor wire around Austin (and Houston) so the residents can’t infect the rest of the state.

Lest we forget, the Austin Mayor screaming about 'science' is the same who did a promotional video from Cabo urging Austinites to stay at home. Hypocracy runs rampant.
Don't worry, #7. The Texas AG sues someone or something every day and twice on Saturday.

I've always said... don't mess with Texas...here's a perfect example of all the California rejects who moved to Texas to avoid crazy governor newsmen's dictates...now they have brought their socialist ideas to Texas... and they wonder why Texans are not happy about their move... go back to the socialist republic of California...

I like this! I loved AG Paxton’s tone in standing up to crazy Austin Mayor Adler too!
Democrats hate to have their weapon of choice (lawsuits) turned on THEM! God Bless Texas.

We still have the mask mandate. The Governor has been neutralized. Texas is ran by the mayors and county judges that control all the major cities, which are all corrupt, and have positioned to steal all future elections. Houston's police chief, a Democrat, said the Houston police would enforce the mask mandate in the stores. Nothing has changed. We will never be able to change it without restoring election integrity. Harris County had all kinds of election irregularities similar to other areas of election fraud.

Does anyone honestly believe a mask does anything? It's a costume. If masks worked, the scent of flatulence would never get beyond one's underwear.

The most socialist place in Texas is of course where government is located. One can request that masks be worn, or require masks be worn in a private place of business. One can recommend masks be worn, but telling people they HAVE to wear masks is just a control method. Ninety-nine percent of all masks ARE NOT effective against viruses no matter how they're worn. Some masks are somewhat effective against viruses, but those masks are worn in a medical setting.

Foe those who purport to "follow the science," they should know that even the size of the pores in a N95 mask, theoretically down to 0.1 micron, are barely sufficient to stop a virus, such as the CCP virus, at 0.12 microns in diameter. The N95 still cannot protect against the leakage from the sides of the mask, as facial contours and ignorant users cannot obtain a perfect fit. The numbers only get worse with the fabric masks the majority of people wear, which typically have pores of around 5 microns, meaning the CCP virus just waltzes right on through. Masks have only provided an illusion of protection for those either forced to wear them or for those who welcome govern mandates that defy common sense, much less 'the science."
