Judge Allows Third-Degree Murder Charge
Against Officer On Trial In George Floyd's Death

A Minnesota judge granted a request by prosecutors on Thursday to reinstate a charge of third-degree murder against Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who is on trial already facing second-degree murder and manslaughter charges. Judge Peter Cahill’s decision comes after the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled on Friday that he must reconsider a third-degree murder charge against 44-year-old Chauvin, whose trial got underway with jury selection this week in Minneapolis.

Comments:

Well, BLM gonna riot in any case no matter what the judge decides, so brace yourself for more fake protests!

Violent thugs are in control of the "autonomous zone" at the memorial to St. George. They won't even let supporters into the zone. They wouldn't let anyone in to help a young man who was shot and killed over the weekend. Praying that my family in Mpls. can sell their house before the trial ends. The city will burn regardless of the outcome but it will be much worse if the jury decides to acquit or to convict on lesser charges. Ramona (the Pest)

The prosecution wants every level of homicide available so that they can adjust their case as their evidence is eroded. This makes it much more likely that they may get a conviction on something trivial like "failure to render timely care", and it makes it impossible for the Chauvin to get a clean "not guilty" of second degree murder verdict. Prosecutors should only be allowed one level of charge, forcing them to measure the strength of their case accurately rather than throwing everything they have and hoping something sticks.

Just like the Federal alleged Judicial branch, it appears the state alleged judicial branch likewise makes up laws to create a crime. How can a person be charged with multiple degrees of murder for one act? We certainly are no longer a country of laws (or borders or common sense).

Abbott says “too many social media sites silence conservative speech and ideas and trample free speech.” Abbott joined Sen. A county prosecutor in Michigan told a local news station Monday that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer could possibly face charges for her early handling of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities during the coronavirus pandemic. Peter Lucido, the Macomb County prosecutor, told WXYZ.com that he is limited in his own investigation into nursing home deaths, but if it is revealed that there was "willful neglect of office" or "reckless endangerment of a person’s life," there could be criminal charges. Lucido, a former Republican state senator, appealed to those in the state who may have lost loved ones to the virus who were in nursing homes to seek out information about the deaths.

A bill advancing out of a Kentucky Senate committee on Thursday would make it a crime to insult or taunt a police officer to the point where the taunts provoke a violent response. Senate Bill 211 passed by a 7-3 vote, according to reports. The proposal was a response to riots throughout the country last summer, said the bill's sponsor, Sen. Danny Carroll, R-Benton, a retired police officer. "In these riots, you see people getting up in officers' faces, yelling in their ears, doing everything they can to provoke a violent response," Carroll said, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.
