Abbott held a news conference Friday regarding his legislative proposal to ban social media platforms from censoring Texans. Abbott says “too many social media sites silence conservative speech and ideas and trample free speech.”
Abbott joined Sen. Bryan Hughes in Tyler, Texas to discuss Senate Bill 12.
“Conservative speech will not be cancelled in the state of Texas,” Abbott said. “(This bill) would allow any Texan who has been cancelled, censored or de-platformed to file a lawsuit against Twitter, Facebook or any of these other companies.”
But Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott waded into controversy by branding Gab, a minimum-moderation alternative to Twitter, an anti-Semitic platform.
Somehow I posted the wrong URL on the article above here's the original URL:

Ironically, just to let you all know, you cannot post this article on FaceBook.
I'm definitely a First Amendment / Free Speech kind of guy. I also detest anti-Semitism. Hopefully, sensible folks exercising their Free Speech rights can Speak or Write a little sense into the anti-Semites out there. I'm thinking there are more good people than bad people out there, and this type of problem will resolve itself with More Speech, instead of Less Speech.

Actually, I posted the same URL but don't know what happened! In any case I wanted to add that I've never seen anti-semitism on Gab. Never heard of anyone who has seen it. Seen plenty of support for the Jewish community on Gab, tho.

I have to admit when I saw this on Gab last night I was baffled. What? I have not seen antisemitic posts there (notably I have not been looking) but free speech is still well, um.. free. If you don't like it, scroll on.

I have to agree with LadyHan here, I've never seen any anti-semitic conversations on Gab. Let us say there is anti-semitic speech on Gab. Speech that you and I disagree with, as long as they aren't calling for violent acts, is still protected speech. Freedom of speech, not freedom from speech.
P.S. I probably got something wrong when I click on the original article it works just fine now lol

I joined Gab a few months ago. Have yet to see anything anti-Semitic. But if I do, it will just help me identify idiots who need to be blocked or ignored. It's one thing to say "Jews generally vote D" because statistically it is true. It is entirely different to post anti-Semitic nonsense about the Elders of Zion, Jews owning banks, Hollywood, etc.
I support idiot rights but I have the right not to have to see them more than once, then blocked.

When Gab first started it was pretty much run by the alt right which is largely anti-Semitic. Since the takedown of PARLER, a lot of the people from parlor moved to Gab and have pretty much frozen out the anti-Semitism. Which makes me glad. That’s what needs to happen in a community like that. There’s nothing to say that the art right Anti-Semites can’t be on selves, but they do not represent conservatives and the only way to make it known that conservatives do not think the same way as the old rate is to confront them and make their voice is louder. Gab is freedom.

Ironic.
It only takes a few clicks and all anti-Jewish/Israel/banker/capitalist writing is blocked from your sight on your Gab account.
Lately quite a few Leftists are pretending to be antisemites and nazis just to fill Gab with hate speech.
Worse, for us on Gab, is that these same Lefties use their time on Gab (before being banned) to grab information on gabbers so as to dox us.
Free speech is highly valued at Gab.
It is up to the individual user to block persons and/or words they find objectionable.

It has to do with the inevitable connections to the Swamp. Even if you work against the Swamp, it influences you. For example:
Random Swamp Critter(RSC): " So you want to punish censorship?"
Conservative: "Yes..."
RSC: "GAB is antisemitic, though. Shouldn't something be done about that?"
(Later in aside to Governor/conservative candidate): "Shouldn't we do something about GAB? I've heard they're antisemitic."
I've seen this done to conservatives time after time. Its often set up by the media who lay in wait, gotcha question ready to go.

The anti Semitic I have seen come from Christian theology that labels Jews as Christ killers. Truth is all of us killed him but some of Christianity holds to only New Testament truths and mostly tossed the OT. There are varied posting on Gab of which I have been on since December. Opinions are like noses. Everyone has one and it is inappropriate to pick others. Discuss, yes. Gab is an open forum and on the free side of the platform trolls are trying to populate and cause issues. So, block them and like a free adult move on. My husband found a lot of value in the book Constantine's Sword by JAMES CARR.

Abbott is going to pass legislation to allow a citizen to sue FB, Twitter, Google, and others. How many citizens have the resources to maintain a lawsuit against these companies? That's right. None. This bill is political theater, not reality. BTW, Abbott does not speak for Texas values. I did not value his mask mandate, his nanny state on Covid, or admire his medical advice. I have not valued his response to ERCOT on the electrical freeze, which is to blame others, like he don't appoint the members of the Public Utility Commission, which oversees ERCOT, and like he did not know Texas was going to windmills. The citizens were not informed of the degree we had become dependent on windmills. I can testify that I wondered why we had blackouts for a cloud passing over, and I was shocked that the electricity was turned off in 10 degree weather. I haven't much admired Abbott assuming emergency power. My view is the Governor is not smart enough to be ruling this state alone. I would like to replace Abbott with someone with common sense like Kristi Noem. Those are my values, Governor.

Amendments to the Constitution of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Amendment 1.
Ratified 12/15/1791
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Freedom of speech means speech without restrictions. Speech can be debated but cannot be banned. To ban any speech takes away the Free Speech Right given in our Constitution.
Our Constitution does not state, free speech except speech that someone does not like.
Nor does it say, free speech must meet community standards as to do so is not free speech but a dictatorship. The very dictatorship that is being imposed upon all Americans by the Marxist Communist democrats, republicarts, working to destroy America from within joining the Marxist Communist Global One World Government through efforts of Americas politicians, educators, and justice system, to be imposed upon the entire world.

Here's the problem one encounters: You own a social media site. You allow posting free. You have no standards regarding content. A radical outfit grabs your platform and "monopolizes" it with their anti-whatever trash talk, including filthy language and lewd/violent imagery. As owner, you take it down...it's offensive...are you now guilty of censorship?
If you say yes, that's censorship and you stop, your investment goes down the tubes. Advertisers run the other way. Customers desert you.
If you say no, I have the right to remove offensive materials, well, then so do Facebook, Twitter and everyone else to impose their "standards".
The issue is simple. Now, what would Voltaire say? How would Patrick Henry respond?

You all need to study "framing."
When some idiot politician links two concepts -- Gab and anti-semitism -- and you all start yaking about Gab and anti-semitism, you have immediately lost the battle and the war. This is what Donald Trump understood so well and drove the media nuts. He destroyed their previously unfettered monopoly to frame all political discussion.
The proper response is, why isn't Abbot talking about well-documented Democrat anti-Semitism?

I joined Gab when it was new. There were some interesting people posting back then but I deleted my account when I realized I had more "block user" than "follow". The people I blocked were shockingly anti-Semitic. I tried Gab again when Parler was taken down and was pleasantly surprised that current Gab is not at all like original Gab. I'm guessing you could find hateful comments in threads, just like you'd find on twitter, but I've yet to see any anti-Semitic posts. Gov. Abbott really needs to research Gab for himself and not base his comments on wikipedia's description the site.

If you want to find anti-Semitism all you have to do is look at the DNC platform position toward Israel, and anything related spewing forth from the Washington Compost or New York Slimes.
