A politician vying to become New York City’s next mayor said the city’s defunded and understaffed police force is responsible for skyrocketing crime rates and needs to be held responsible for not solving more cases. Andrew Yang, a staunch Democrat and Universal Basic Income (UBI) supporter, said he decided to run for mayor after his failed presidential campaign last year, according to Newsweek. A cornerstone of Yang’s latest campaign focuses on skyrocketing crime rates that he claims police are simply refusing to combat.

Why should the police bother fighting most crime when the perps are freed right away? And since snitches get stitches they are helpless to solve crimes in minority neighborhoods. Yang's statement is so incredibly stupid that any halfway intelligent person recognizes it as such.

So the race for mayor of NYC will be Andrew Yang v Pete Buttgig. I know a few New Yawkwers and I can't imagine how they put up with this BS. I suspect that when 5th Ave Manhattan looks like a Mexican Flea market they'll all try to catch a Jet Blue to Fort Lauderdale.

Police endorsement? Heck, all the cops in NYC should be smart enough to live outside the city. So, it's no votes lost. But the criminals all live in town. Smart politician. Dumb result.
But he's got a point. If the city leadership hamstring the police department, crime won't get reported. Ergo, no more crime! Pay no attention to those bodies over there. Or the lady getting raped in the alley.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with turning criminals back onto the street without bail, or unwillingness to even file charges on many criminals, nope that has no effect. It MUST be the cops.
/s off
NYC is run by literally crazy people who seem to want to destroy everything and every one. And yet they get elected.

Certainly crazy times when someone states the obvious and it gets a headline.

It is astounding that this fellow Yang is among the living. He is demonstrably too stupid to remember to breathe.

NYC politicians caused these circumstances. Don't blame the police officers.

Yang is in error; Andrew Cuomo is to blame; in his personal and in his official capacity.

Has he looked at how the NYPD has been demonized and defunded? Now he wants their protection? How will they accomplish that? He is an idiot.

Perhaps Yang isn't going far enough. Aren't there always police present at a crime scene or murder scene? And don't firemen generally appear at major fires? Liberal proof positive that these public servants cause crime and fires.

Nothing like setting a good tone with the NYPD and Police Union if you're running for mayor by blaming them for De Blasio's failings. /sarcasm off

I am actually laughing at what is about to happen to my arrogant NYC relatives. I don’t want bad Karma, but honestly, they should know better.

When you consider that the citizens of NYC elected De Blasio mayor. I would not be surprised if they believe Andrew Yang and elect him their next mayor. Heaven help them.

There goes the traditional police union endorsement. A guy who gets it that wrong during the campaign does not deserve to be the mayor but sadly, neither does duh-Blasio.

In talking about what he wants for NYC, Yang shows a deep misunderstanding of how the world worlds. I'm sure in truly believes that his "solutions" will benefit the city. He's profoundly wrong but he doesn't know that. HIs good intentions along with may other progressives will damage the city beyond what we can describe here.
I won't go near the place.
